Anyone any experience of the Vango Icarus 500?

http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/vango-icarus-500-delux...

Looking for something at that sort of price level.

Leisure camping with wife & kid - long weekend max really.

Any other ideas if that's not so good?

That’s the shorter version of the one I posted a few posts back. Mine is for sale for a little more then that but has the carpet, footprint and extra bedroom.

Good tent but get spare poles. Supplied ones are terrible.

Yep whomever buys mine will get a few spare poles and proper instructions on how to erect the tent!

We use a Campfeuer 5000. Sewn in groundsheet, tons of room, 20mins up and down for two people, totally waterproof and a double skinned roof allowing ventilation so no condensation either. Spare poles available on eBay if you need them.

We don't use the 6 person bedrooms as there's only the two of us, which makes for even more space for our Yawn kingsize bed, bedside tables, lamps and bedside mats.We also have dining chairs and an inflatable sofa.

highly recommend Coleman, i've done a lot of camping over the years and simply can't fault them for quality and weatherproofing for the price.

Neat!! cool

If I used that, I could park the car in the tent too with the space I'd save!

Sorry for the delay, it’s a German made robens , the landmark, original. It has seen some weather, heat, huge winds, wet , never had a problem. Doing a month this summer in Washington,Oregon, Nevada, Utah ending up in California.

Been back onto https://www.thefamilytentshop.com/ to order a few more bits today.

Absolutely superb service. Highly recommend using them if you are picking up a few bits.
Found them through the Tent Talk FB group which is also worth joining.

To the OP, did you go for a Hayling 4?

I've got one from 2016 and love it. I can set it up by myself in about 10 mins using a 2 stage electric pump. Plug it in and it fast flows up to a certain pressure then pumps up to required higher pressure shutting off once at the right pressure.

Love all the glazing, making it feel bright and airy. We bought the optional vestibule which makes the tent much larger for living in on poor days. Without the vestibule the front acts like a huge wind break and is great for sitting in shelter but feels like you are still outside.

One thing missing to make it absolutely perfect is a darker bedroom area but looks like they have addressed that in the newer version.

Yes, I did. Ordered from The Family Tent shop who did me a good deal and have great service.
Ordered a few more bits from them that are due today actually. They rang asking what day I'd like it delivered and have kept to it. Have just had my 1 hour time-slot advised. Small things like that make a difference to me rather than just using the cheapest courier and item getting lost or having to be picked up from 50 miles away.

Have trialled erecting it but unfortunately still too wet in these parts to have used it yet.

I do believe the current model has a blackout bedroom.

I guess it does depend what you want and needs are from your tent but for my money a Hilleberg tent never lets me down rain shine snow etc
Having 4 i tend to agree with you. Probably not suitable for the OPs requirements though!

It’s all poles but doesn’t take an hour to put away!
Just stuck this on eBay. £200 start, if you get it for that it’s a real bargain!

Borrowed a Higear Voyager 6 this weekend and had a couple of nights in the Peak District.

Great tent, dead easy to put up.

Now considering purchasing the latest version which is currently on offer at go-outdoors.

http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/hi-gear-voyager-eclips...

Seems a decent price at the moment and despite having watched this and the previous model for a while I don't remeber it being much cheaper at the end of last season either.

Any users of the tent?
