Calor Gas Bottle Weights

So I am off to Le Mans shortly and thought I would check how much gas is in the currently connected gas bottle.

So stuck on it on the bathroom scales and came back at 12.5Kg, ok so almost half full or almost empty given Calor state for the 6kg (Empty 7.3-10.9) and (Full 15-17).

So popped out the new cylinder unused and weighed that, 13.7Kg!!!! Calor state full it should weigh 15-17Kg.

I know its a dark art to know how much gas is actually in a cylinder but my numbers are quite a long way off.

What are others experiences with this?

Get an adapter from eBay & fill your own bottles, 6kg will take 11.5 litres, just make sure it's completely empty first. Much cheaper than exchange bottles.

I have heard that’s its leathal to do it as kits on ebay are not always safe .

Willing to give it a go.
