Will the Cadac BBQ’s run on both types of portable gas, can I apart from just using cannisters buy a refillable gas bottle.
Thanks

Yes. A lot of people run their Cadac's from a BBQ point on their caravan. This is just gas from the gas bottle after the regulator. it will work fine on propane or butane.
Just get the correct regulator for the bottle you use.
I use quick-release connectors on my gas BBQ and then I have gas hoses with a number of different regulators so I can connect to any bottle I have or direct to caravan.

Red Calor bottles (Propane) burn hotter then Blue (Butane) bottles. Therefore most caravans use two red propane bottles. One acting as a spare.

Depends which Cadac you are talking about - they used to do a HP and LP version of the little one - one ran on little cannisters, the other gas bottles. I have an LP version which runs on one of the small bottles if used for picnics otherwise it goes into the BBQ point on the caravan - orange or blue is fine. The HP one has a completely different type of connector for the little aerosol canister which sit directly under it.

Thankyou all for the replies so far, the Cadac that I have looks to be able to be run via a regulator.
All replies very much appreciated.

I'm not sure that is quite correct (but am happy to be corrected)...

In fact per unit of volume butane releases more energy than propane when it burns, I believe.

Most caravans/motorhomes have 1 or 2 propane bottles rather than butane because butane won't gas properly at low temperatures therefore one would have to swap them over (and the regulators) before and after winter.

OP: I use a butane cylinder with my Cadac at home but plug it into my external BBQ point in my MH when away, which is always propane (as I really cant be arsed to swap the cylinders over) twice a year biggrin
