Keep us updated Eric.
How's things generally? (sorry ifyou are being asked this question a lot and feel free not to answer)
Trying to keep busy and occupied. I'm involved with a local theatrical group all this week so that is certainly absorbing my time. I'm trying to do actual work but finding it very hard to stay focused. I definitely need a break. How's things generally? (sorry ifyou are being asked this question a lot and feel free not to answer)

In the summer, we are staying on Ile De Re for 10 days. We have the chunnel booked and will spend 2 days travelling each end. Need to find a good camping spot half way down.
Assuming you're going via Cherbourg, this is a good spot. In a forest with loads to do and Rennes is lovely. https://www.camping-rennes.comBill said:

Thanks Bill, should have said we are taking the chunnel so via Calais.Sorry to hear of your loss. In no way comparable, when my ex wife finished our marriage two years ago, I found the motorhome a great way of dealing with coming to terms with being on my own - learning to be on my own, getting out into nature and also working out what I wanted for the rest of my life.
It was wilding which really gave me that sense of peace and particularly a week spent in the Highlands doing the NC500. I’d thoroughly recommend it - particularly the very isolated coastal areas. I find the sea a great healer and perspective giver. I did a blog on here which if you’re interested might prove a useful read.

It wasn’t easy being on my own in such isolated places to start with but it became easier and a real sense of self started emerging.
All the best with the new chapter of your life and once again, my heartfelt condolences.

Good that you have an interest that can occupy yourself and no doubt provide socially as well.Washed our van before our weekend away in Feb after a winter in storage and even using Fenwicks caravan cleaner can't shift the stains that form below the windows etc...
Booked my first break - three days in April at the Camping and Caravan Club Site, Cambridge. Not too far from Cambridge
city and Duxford Airfield (6.8 miles) so hope to be able to get to both on my bicycle. Really looking forward to it although with a bit of trepidation as it will be my first break in the motorhome without my wife.
Will start packing and prepping the van over the weekend.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Cambridge C&CC site is really nice. I stayed there for most of the 2018 season (within the 28 day rule of popping out and coming back) and it was friendly, clean and well sited in respect of Cambridge and the pretty villages surrounding. I'm sure you will enjoy it even if it is emotionally quite challenging.

Eric. I haven't posted on the other thread but wish you all the best for the next challenging stage ahead. You're approaching it in a very positive way, and although there will clearly be tough times to come, I wish you well.
Camping will be a brilliant way to make a start. Bon courage, et bon chance.

Now back from my first short solo break in the motorhome. On the whole, it went well. Taking the bicycle made a big difference. On the first day (Monday) on site I cycled into Cambridge and enjoyed looking at the glorious buildings in the warm spring sunlight.
The next day the weather disintegrated completely - overcast and drizzle interspersed with heavy downpours. However, I cycled to Duxford airfield and arrived before the rain started. There was no flying at the airfield due to the weather but there was more than enough to see inside the hangers and display halls.
The next day I went into Cambridge on the bus and enjoyed walking around the town and visiting the odd museum and gallery.
It was pretty cold in the evening - with temperatures dropping to just over freezing on Tuesday night. I definitely need a heavier duvet.
There were a couple of technical issues. I discovered my hook-up cable had stopped working so the campsite loaned me one for the three days I was there. Also, the temperature gauge on the van is playing up. I'm pretty sure that it's the gauge rather than any genuine temperature problem but I had a very anxious drive back home. I'll get that looked at before I use the motorhome again.
