First time motorhomers

And loving it.
We unfortunately lost my mum at the beginning of the year, with some of her inheritance we decided to buy a little motorhome. That's when the fun began.
I was thinking VW or similar, rock n roll bed etc, SWMBO then gave the list, full height when cooking etc, full cooking facilities, loo and a shower! Oh and must fit on our driveway (having previously had a small boat the costs on the Thames were silly to store)
So my idea went to the wall, we set ourselves a budget (very low by PH standards) and began searching. Found a few things we liked and went to a few dealers and shows to check out layouts etc.
In the end we ended up with a 1999 VW T4 Compass Calypso and we love it, 2 berth, all the 'bits' for her and very spacious inside.
Picked it up at the beginning of August, initially went for a few overnighters using BritStops before going away for a weeks touring up the east coast to Whitby at the end of August.
Lots of adventures since and looking forward to loads more in Little Ol', named in tribute to my mum.

Brilliant. Glad you are enjoying yourself. Sorry to hear about your Mum.
We bought our first MH 2 years ago and went all over in it. We found the Certified Locations with the motorhome club brilliant, you can get an app on your phone. Search for sites is another good app with a small payment & as said park4night.
If you get the chance head over to France. The Aires are brilliant and so much to see & explore. We have just completed our first trip abroad and only intended to do Brittany but ended up in the Pyrenees!.

Sounds great!
I guess the modern-day equivalent is perhaps the Wingamm MicroS - a German colleague of mine pointed me towards them. He has had his for years and was raving about it. In case you fancy an upgrade ;-)

Fully sealed unit, love the way all the external doors unlock with the same key, looks a thing of beauty!
One day, I keep telling myself.....one day!

These are great, download the app. First one you visit you get a card from the machine and then charge the card up as much as you want. Automatic barriers, 24/7 365, sort of campsite car park hybrid sites.
