What would you like to improved about your products?
Discussion
Good afternoon everyone
I am a 2nd year university student studying transport design. My current project involves working in a team to investigate the ergonomic and inclusive design issues of camper vans, caravans and tents and then later in the semester I will be designing and making an ergonomic rig with the rest of my team.
For us to make the best design/most user-friendly design possible, I need to know what you like and dislike and what you would like to be improved on to make living with and living inside your camper van/caravan/tent more user friendly.
For those interested in this, could you post your experiences with these vehicles/tents (what you like, don’t like, would improve on) along with the make and model/brand of the product and possibly, if you are ok with it, an image or two of the interior of the vehicle/tent.
Thank you in advance

Most 2/3 man tents these days have the door on a section that slopes. When you unzip it you release some of the tension on the outer fly sheet and it sags in a bit around the door...so any water that run off from around the door drips inside.
I've sewed a couple bits of elastic to the zip on my Khyam Biker to pull the edges back towards the poles, so when I unzip it the fabric creases in to a gutter and the water runs down the outside of the tent. Such a simple fix to an annoying problem.

The thread title is extremely badly worded and grammatically doesn't make obvious sense.
When you say "your products", are you asking for a response from someone who manufactures equipment in the camping and caravanning world or are you pitching (not a camping inspired pun) your question at consumers of this equipment?

That time of year already? I guess the engineering design lecturer from ******** has moved on from the "design a better tripod" project that has plagued UK photography forums for almost a decade.
Better questions get better answers. Vague questions fishing for an idea aren't easy to answer.

One that really annoys me with caravans and motorhomes, is that we have to carry a separate electric cable on a reel which we then have to unwind and plug in at both ends. Have none of you geniuses thought of incorporating it in the vehicle and we just pull out as much or as little as we need to reach the hook up point?

Its all about cost and whether it looks 'pretty', Swift has dipped in and out of fully composite vans for some time now.Bailey did get it nearly right with the 2nd generation of the alutech vans to be fair.
The point about the cable reel is a good one. No matter how I take cable off the reel, it's all twisted up and I have to do the skipping-rope action to try and untwist it before it goes on the reel. Too often when I get to the end of the cable I end up thwacking myself in the nads. You'd think I'd learn.
Gas bottles : an entirely 19th century affair. I carry 2 as you're never sure when the first one will run out. I can't be the only one. Why can a gas bottle not indicate remaining capacity to give some vague idea of remaining usage?
Touring Caravans : so much expense, yet most are serviced by a cheap pump in a fresh water container, plus a tube going out to a grey water container. For a caravan to be sold as an aspirational product it's rather let down by 2 cheap unsightly containers.

Stop caravans leaking water. It's 2020 and they still build vans that leak from new!
I always wonder how much is down to poor quality and how much is down to 'engineering' a product life spanAnyhow we sold the vehicle about three years ago, and I'm rather glad we did.
