Just can't see it happening.

We have a site booked in Cornwall for the first two weeks of August, it has a toilet / shower block but we're in a caravan so could do without. But I don't think they're going to be encouraging travel anytime as it can just spread it around and it's probably a double edged sword for the locals as on the one hand the infection rate hasn't been too high in rural areas and they probably want to keep it that way as the infrastructure isn't there to support a lot of cases but on the other hand most of the local economy is tourism.

Besides which being on the campsite might be okay but any large tourist attraction would struggle to be safe so can't see them opening e.g. Eden Project, Theme Parks etc. and the beaches will get crowded making distancing even harder, as for swimming / surfing....

I’m hoping sites will open from the end of July. I really do hope they open as my business (I’m a caravan engineer) really does rely on it!

Not really sure yet. i was pondering fibre glass and some form of gel coat. Worry is presumably theres a gap under it that allowed it to crack in first place.

Already missed out on a week in April and going to miss another end of May. Got ferry booked to France to do Vosges and Black Forest in July August. Not going to happen. Tempted to book a UK site during the same period to avoid total disappointment.

That’s what I did, booked a UK site for mid July hoping that this would all be done and dusted.

I think July 4th is looking possible if we don’t suddenly get a surge in deaths during May/June.

Seems it's a common problem!

For fixing the Showertray a professionally applied voting called speedcoat is the best on the market. It’s a flexible polymer but incredibly strong and non slip. It’s the only shower tray repair you’ll get with a lifetime warranty. If any additional support is required under the tray it’s a standard part of the repair to reinforce it.

Logic would suggest that sites where there are decent spaces between pitches (similar to Club sites) could open as long as units were self contained (not withstanding emptying the toilet).

However my gut feel is that they may try for August to give some impetus to the UK holiday industry but I guess we are all being held to ransom by the current relaxations: IF folks are sensible and we dont get a second surge, them perhaps, just perhaps, we may see some movement....

...but I'm guessing we won't and it will be September earliest when presumably schools will go back; folks will be mostly back at work and the risk of social gatherings on campsites lessens.

I am as gutted as the rest of you seeing my Moho sat on the drive doing nowt! We'd be in Sicily now and then off to Germany on September!

We go to Spain in January each year for a couple of months and I'm worried about that at the mo tbh... frown

We got away the week before restrictions were imposed but hoping to get away for the tail end of August but i'm expecting a second wave of Covid-19 to emerge and this year will be dead and buried.

My 75 year old mother is already watching camper van prices and reckons this would be a good time to buy rolleyes
Good point about local near campsites though.
I take a lot of interest in the motorhome market , there is very little for sale privately ,a ridiculous amount of what is on the market is fake. The fake adverts are getting really hard to spot. The sellers are very clever.
Tell your mother to be very careful ,

Cornwall Council are requesting people stay away from the county. They have some of the most elderly / vulnerable population and some of the poorest healthcare provision.

My parents live in a holiday destination village where about half of the properties are second / holiday homes. Of the permanent residents, only one household is below the age of 70, though two of them are classed as vulnerable due to health issues.

We all want to go on holiday. But please take responsibility to how you may affect the local residents. I am holding back from visiting my parents for their, and their friends safety. Please respect the safety of other, more vulnerable people and where they live.

All our camping gear is in storage at the moment due to a house move, which is a shame as I reckon a night or two away camping might be doable before the summer's out. As soon as hotels and B&Bs reopen they're going to be rammed.

On the other hand I live in a holiday destination and it's nice and quite compared to normal. Quite a few people within walking/cycling distance getting to the beach but nothing like what I would normally be like on a sunny weekend. Sadly 5 surfers died here on Monday though which takes the shine off it a bit.

Cheers, I think she'll probably be looking at buying through a reputable dealer with a decent warranty but I'll pass it on.

Any approximate idea of cost? Ours is a small bathroom. probably 2 1/2 ft by 3 1/2ft? Has a crack in the floor around 15cm long

If it doesn’t need any major rebuild work about £380. I’m not in your part of the country or I’d offer to take a look for you. Send me a message with a photo if you want any advice.

Thanks from a bit of googling I was anticipating that sort of price which sort of sounds a lot and I know my wife will say its a lot, however she knows the price of everything and the value of nothing! The reality is if you (or rather another franchisee) there is travel time to take in to account. I dont know how long it takes but you can probably only do 2 a day and potentially only 1, then there is the cost of the van, the training, the rights to use the product etc and suddenly it seems more reasonable. In theory if I have to take the van to the franchisee it should be cheaper as they can do more a day but in that case they then have to pay a property cost as well.

I wouldnt be thinking about having it done if there isn't a risk that we might need to use the shower in the caravan. We always camp on sites with a decent shower block and therefore dont have to use the bathroom on board, which is why it doesnt matter its small. However if we are going to use the shower it obviously needs to be done.

Interestingly it would appear I can actually get a 2nd hand shower tray https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARAVAN-MOTORHOME-SHOWE... its only £40 - bargain. Only slight snag its in Yorkshire and collect only, and I live in Sussex. What I could do is drive to Yorkshire buy it and fit it. I could even drive to Yorkshire buy it and create a mould from it and make a new one out of fibreglass. However to fit it I assume one needs to remove the toilet, the basin etc and its not going to be a quick job.

So here is that one on ebay with the location of the crack shown in blue

Here is the crack itself although not easy to see (and yes I need to remove the sand!)

and in this one I have marked the area in red where the floor flexes slightly which has probably lead to the crack in the first place

I have emailed Magicman in Brighton no idea what system they use and Speedcoat.

Any advice gratefully received and hopefully of use to others with the same problem

Not convinced by the Camping and Caravan Club woman saying stay local. If I am going to stay local I might as well stay at home!

Depends how local is local.
Our seasonal is just under an hour away, is that local?.

Not sure how they could police that one either.
