No-one but no-one brings in the ideal layout for me: rear longitudinal beds over a garage, with an overcab bed. The closest I can get is an A class but I don't want to spend that money.
I can come close (with the van we are trading in at the weekend), rear longitudinal bed over garage and a dropdown double over the front dinette. Worked really well for us for 7 years (kids don't come with us now, so dropdown bed stays stowed away out of sight).
Never liked the look of an overcab bed model - too bulbous !
smile We have had one of those: an Adria, but sleeping in the drop down bed didn't work for us: too much limboing to get out of the hab door, thinner mattress and reduced head height. Adria also have an issue with condensation above the dropdown bed leading to mould on the mattress and the electric motors that move the bed aren't the most robust... It also had a very long rear overhang which lead to some interesting issues with grounding out and rear axle loading.

We want a half dinette with rotating captain's chairs, not a full dinette as they aren't great for relaxing in. And having owned both, there isn't a lot of difference in the fuel economy in real life but the overcab bed is really really useful storage space!

Manual drop down - no motors to go wrong
Mattress of good quality
Corner of dropdown cut out, so you could get out of the door

Anyway, pick up a new Knaus on Saturday!

When I made tentative enquiries a while back, they were all minimum 7 night hires (which make sense when you think about it).
But I think you'll be very lucky to find any that aren't fully booked from here 'til Kingdom come'.
Good idea to try before you buy though; a recent stay in my mate's one at Thruxton for the BSB has put me off for life, there was simply no space to put anything down! ...you're constantly shifting stuff from one seat to another to another!... my 5 man tent is like a mansion compared to his 6 berth 7.7m 4.2 tonne behemoth. And don't talk to me about the drive there and back!

This is something I've thought about as well. What I have concluded was if the MH hire place has parking I would try and hire near where I wanted to tour, so if I wanted to tour Devon and Cornwall I might try and find a hire place in Plymouth or Exeter, that way I can bomb down there in a car and do the MH bit at a more leisurely plod.
