You can still use the lid, however I think it will sit inside the paella pan lip rather than on it or over it. I’ll try and get a pic later so you can judge for yourself whether it’s worth getting or not.
That would be great - thanks thumbup

We get a good use out of the braai plate but on our recent trip a fellow camper said that he just used the paella dish for everything now as it was so easy to keep clean. I forgot to ask him about whether the lid fitted hence my questions.

Well who knew? Certainly not me, obviously! Here’s my paella pan with the Cadac lid sat on it perfectly!

That's brilliant - thanks.

I may well invest in one now. I'll see how much they are. I carry a wok inside the MH for cooking up chillis/curries/bol etc but this might be a neater solution. Plus it'll be an easier clean than the braai plate if used for a breakfast.

Cheers thumbup

For the brai plate and grill I’d spend ages trying to scrub the muck off. Different permutations of scrubber. Different types of detergent even used de greaser! On my last trip a much wiser and bigger boy just mocked me and told me to just put the lid on and turn it up full for 5-10 minutes. I just scraped the food off and it was clean as a whistle after a little wipe with washing up liquid.

Presumably you scraped it off whilst it was hot?

Can I ask; what did you use to do the scraping (not wanting to scratch the surface)?

I’m still experimenting… the first time I left it hot until everything on the plate was dry and scraped it with a cheap pair of plastic tongues that IKEA sell for less than a pound. The second time I left it heating for far less time. Let it cool and scraped with my plastic tongues and got the same result.

I’m away again in a weeks time so I’ll try to perfect it. It’s changed my use of it, the pain to clean was so bad we were close to selling it.

Nice one, thanks.

I'll try some techniques when I next use it.

Interesting, I've only used my Cadac twice now both times with the diffuser and grill over the top of that - first time I didn't really have time to mess about, threw anything dirty in a black back to bring home and dish wash. I did try on my last trip to clean it at the caravan but couldn't break the grease off with fairy liquid and hot water, ended up bagging and brining home again

I will give your method a try and heat it then see what I can do with it next time

I left it too late to order a paella pan before out next trip which starts tomorrow.

I'll see how I go and will probably order one ready for September's trip I reckon.

I put mine in the dishwasher (heavy soil wash), comes up like new

In fact, i stick most of the cadac pieces in there (well, those that fit)

I think that is different to the lid? I don't have that part to mine sadly... not sure how i feel about doing "bbq" stuff in a pan tbh

Comes up nicely in the dishwasher tho, took a couple washes to clean it fully i found with mine, and with a bit of a scrub inbetween

Inspired by your post tho above I got a little scrubber/scraper in tesco last night (you can kinda see the front plastic is shaped to scrape here)

Used the Cadac a lot whilst in Cornwall. I have the BBQ grill, the half and half thing, the Paella dish, and the roasting pan. Managed to use them all. Cleaning the roasting dish and Paella disk was a cinch. The ribbed things a nightmare. however I started using the silicon sheets on them and they really do work. Make no different to the cooking, but easy to clean and no muck on the ribbed things. Others in the campsite struggling to clean them were off to buy the silicon sheets!

I bought a second braai plate for the CADAC we use in the MH as the first was starting to lose its non stick a bit. It still works fine so I'll whack it on Ebay and see what happens. I think they have dramatically improved the surface now though as the new one cleaned up a treat whilst we were away on our recent trip.

The paella dish has arrived so I'll be trying that next week when we are away. Again t looks to have a super slippy non stick coating on it compared to the old braai plate. It'll be great of omelettes I reckon.

For those with the pizza stone: can I ask how well it turns out pizzas?

I carry a Ferrari G3 pizza machine in the MH when we are on long trips (on a recommendation from PH smile ). I make a batch of dough balls up prior to the trip and carry a few in the freezer in the MH. The Ferrari works really well as it gets up to 380 degrees (or some such) and does a pizza in c.3.5-4 minutes but I am always happy to look at something better/easier to use if possible as long as it does the bis.
We've just returned from a caravan holiday where the Cadac was used for most meal preparation. Including cooking some pizzas that we had made and the result wasn't as good as with a pizza oven (we also have an Onni). They had a charred base by the time the tops had cooked.

But this may have been down to my (lack of) cooking skills rather than an inherent issue with the Cadac.

Just need to put a large sprinkling of semolina balls on the stone before the base to slightly space / insulate the pizza base from the fierce heat, works a treat!
