I've seen a few DIY Luton conversions, it's a way to get a lot of space (especially height) although no more payload than most regular vans at around a ton so needs some careful planning to stay under - you see some with chunky worktops and ceramic tiles all over the place and they must be close or over. The box isn't that strong for attaching things to and you'll want to insulate which loses space. No access from cab to box unless you chop a great big hole in it. Some campsites can be a bit funny about them, although they can be with anything that isn't a beige box professional motorhome.

Plenty of people converting panel vans, some of them you’d think they’d rolled of the factory line the fit out is that good.Took the Truck for MOT. My usual MOT place were not interested as they only do cars. So they recommended somewhere else. I am always nervous going to new businesses like this without any prior experience. But I didn't have any choice as I have no experience with Trucks. They told me it needed a few jobs doing. Seeing as I could not be bothered doing any of this myself I have let them get on with it. They told me this lot would be 830 quid. No idea if that is good or bad. They said they could source a good used prop which was 350, then 50 I assume for the MOT leaves 430 for them.
