Plans for 2023?
Discussion
We've got a week in Edinburgh at the end of the month booked and we've got a week booked in Aviemore at Glenmore in June. Fantastic place if the weather is half decent.
Still looking at sorting a trip to France in late July, looking at Gerardmer and maybe one other place as a potential landing spot.
As Caravan club members, think the idea of holding deposits is excellent as suddenly there's a lot more choice for booking. People blocking up the space has always been a problem with the most popular sites.

I couldn't understand why the C&MC let people book separate sites for the same dates. If they had stopped this then a chunk of the problem of sites being unavailable would have disappeared wouldn't it?
We are fans of Gerardmer too. Very useful aire just off the town centre.
Yeah most likely, but it stops the selfish just block booking and cancelling last minute depending on weather. We are fans of Gerardmer too. Very useful aire just off the town centre.
Interested to hear more about Gerardmer, not been yet but the area looks ideal for the kind of holiday we like.
re Gerardmer. We found it by accident years ago on a car driving holiday. It's a pleasant little town with a lovely lake: good for walking around or boating. It's a busy place all year around due to skiing as well. If you have a car then the Vosges mountains are lovely (great to take a picnic in nice weather) as are visits to Colmar and Munster. Further afield is the Schlumpf Car Museum too which is well worth a visit.
We always eat in a resto there called Grizzly. They do these flaming spikes of meat which are very nice indeed
Edited to add: I see you have a VW so getting around wont be an issue for you. We haven't stayed at campsites but the aire is around €6 per night (Free if you have a blue badge): public toilets only although there is a service point (chargeable) nearby for water etc.

We sold the VW after we ran out of seatbelts so we now pull a caravan on the back of a 5 seat Vito which is like a secure bike shed on wheels. Pulling the van can be a bit of a chore at times but once there it's ideal.
We're Brand new to caravanning although the kids go away with my parents a few times a year.
Picked up a new (to us!) Van on 23rd December joined the CAMC and our first trip was for new years eve for a couple of nights to Whitewater in Stockton!
Back to Whitewater for a few nights in February holidays.
Knaresborough 10th March for the weekend
Old Hartley whitley bay end of March 2 nights
Broadings Farm whitby for a week in Easter
Southport for a week in August, back for 2 days then upto Wooler Riverside for 4 nights before school starts again!
Hoping to have some last minute getaways in between aswell and Mrs md. Has school holidays off now so I'll hopefully be able to drop it somewhere and come back for work...

We got back from Spain in early March and have since had a week up in Cirencester. On Monday we set out on a trip down to Sicily using up our remainder Schengen days. Back in early June.
Other trips booked up for this year...
End June: Touring to Cheltenham; London; Devon; Minehead
End July: East Wales and Ross on Wye
September: Belgium; S Germany; NE France

Currently busking it through Netherlands, Belgium, Germany etc.
Came down the Romantische Straße finishing at Füssen a couple of days ago, then awoke to snow. Made us think twice about heading to Austria and the Alps, so we moved over to the Black Forest. Currently in a free Stellplatz in Sulz am Neckar. Weather not much better, but at least it's not snowing...
Might have a bit of a forest tour before maybe heading for Switzerland, Austria, Czechia, Poland, northern Germany, Denmark.
All depends how the fancy takes us. Never book nowt (apart from a ferry back, eventually, of course).

But then... the weather was so crappy for two days we changed our plans entirely - and headed SW into France.
Currently in the aire at Polignac right below the fortress high on its volcano core.
Much warmer this afternoon, but raining now. However it's forecast to be full sun and warm tomorrow as we head towards the Millau Viaduct.
That's ours on the left.

Spent last night planning our first trip for the coming weeks, ideally for a break in the snow that we're getting every other day. Hiking from home with the tent on a 2-4 day trip from home (St. Moritz) to the Austrian border down the river Inn. The challenge is finding campsites that are doable in a days walking. Some are close together and others might be a stretch
We've already spent a pleasant few days in Llanberis early in March. We had some enjoyable walks between heavy showers.
Madeira next week (not in the caravan) then we're staying in the Chatsworth House site for four nights.
Bourton-on-the-Water followed immediately by Warwick/Leamington in June. We haven't thought about July and August yet.
We will almost certainly tour Scotland for two weeks in September. Then we're off to the Dominican Republic. We like two foreign holidays in the winter and then fill the summer with touring the UK. Retirements helps!

'Did' Millau for a couple of nights - well worth it, and now in NE Spain/Catalunya, mostly in free or very low cost aires.
Every Euro we don't spend on camping we can, and often do, spend in the towns and villages.
We're currently in one, €4 including hook-up per 24 hours (try finding that in the UK!) in Viladrau. Lovely peaceful spot.
It's a good antidote to the one we just left in Caldes de Malavella. Great little aire and totally free including 16a hook-up, but a two night festival a hundred yards away doesn't make for a peaceful night. Not complaining though as it's a cracking little town, and one we'd certainly return to.

Howling wind nearly all day here in Palamós. Had to leap out of the van when it (the wind, not the van!) started up this morning and reel the awning in as I thought it was going to take off.
At least it was sunny and very warm with it.
Heading back to France vis Puigcerda in the morning - first day of week 8.
