I'm about to be a first time van owner and have arranged some storage (we do not have room for it at home).

I was wondering if people leave their car in their spot when they go away, i.e. pack the car, drive to the site, move the van out, put car in its place.

If so, are there any car insurance implications?

Don't see it as any different to leaving your car in a long stay carpark at the airport and its probably far safer to leave it in the storage compound than at said airport.

It's how we used to do it. We had an allocated space and van comes out, car goes in. Never had any bother and to be honest never gave the insurance angle much thought except for the above thinking.

I'm sure there's a ton of disclaimers in the storage yard about damage but again, that's no different to a long term carpark.

We *can* fit our motorhome on the drive, but it's not ideal and certainly wouldn't leave it there long term. I normally drive to the storage yard the day before we go away and swap over the car with the van and take it back home to pack / clean / fill / chill fridge etc.
There seems to be a lot of this going on, as there are plenty of cars where motorhomes have been previously

Check with your insurance company. Don’t assume it’s ok. It’s not worth it.
Also if you are going away for more than 30 days, check your house insurance is ok with that, and if there are any conditions like turning off water/ leaving heating on, or having someone check the house.

Would totally second all of that, that's exactly how I think about it. We left our car in the storage compound for 6 weeks last summer, all seemed ok.
