January, then.
hehe

Apparently they are ‘back on track’ to publish every quarter now according to editor Mikey Harvey, who appeared on the ‘Driven Chat’ podcast recently.

However, I expect an email in due course blaming some event called ‘Christmas?’ causing an unprecedented backlogs and price hikes in the delivery network and subsequently delivery will be slightly delayed due to factors outside their influence etc etc.

It’s a wonderful publication but they could really do with sticking to a fixed date schedule and not over promising and under delivering in terms of getting the product to its customers.

I subscribed after Issue 1 and think every issue since has been preceded with a ‘regretful’ email or tweet about delays/issues.

I think they would be better off just saying "we'll do 4 a year" and not commenting endlessly about delays and progress.

Who is really sitting at home saying to themselves "where is my glossy, bourgeois, de luxe, quarterly car magazine? I need it NOW !"

It comes when it comes, 4 a year, no negative communications. Are you reading, Mr Harvey?

I rescind my previous comment above as Issue 9 was delivered today, with plenty of time left before Xmas.

This came to my attention via one of Harry Metcalfe's tweets, so I bought a copy to try it out. I decided on the Elon Musk Doesn't Give A FXXX mag, and am glad I tried it. The writing is a cut above (mostly, although I wasn't too impressed with Jamie Kitman's Musk profile) the topics are of interest (for example the article on Italian brutalist car design and its links with the social upheaval Italy experienced in the late sixties/early seventies) and the presentation is superb.

Not sure whether to go for a subscription or to purchase further back copies, as something like this will not age.

The latest Norman Foster issue is one for the design enthusiasts rather than car ones. Didn’t hold much interest. Still smells nice though hehe

Its very very arty and tastes change.
I've enjoyed what I've read in them, all 13 have been good
I won't renew my subscription

My subscription ended after 12 issues and I decided not to renew either.

It’s a lovey product, and I like what they do one the whole but I found myself less excited by that initial opening flick through and there seemed to be less substance/volume to the writing.

It feels to me very much like a series of books rather than a magazine I feel I want to subscribe to. I've got a few where there were specific things in them that interested me. I was very happy with the quality and I feel they are much more 'worth' the money than, for example, a typical copy of Octane or Evo.

Anyone else still subscribing? My sub was due at the end of January, but have now cancelled. I enjoyed it, and will probably still buy the odd one if they cover something that interests me. The problem is that often quite a bit of it doesn’t interest me.

But £19 a copy including carriage- ah’m oot, as the Scotsman says

Yes, but feel similar. Interesting content is often lacking. Too much arty stuff.

Yes my subscription has just renewed - I enjoy sitting down and reading a article or 2 at a time. Some articles resonate more with me than others, but isn't that the same with all publications? The photography can be really very good, I agree that the typeface colours can be a little hard to read though. In the last issue (16) there was some white text on an orange background that was quite challenging

The RR has an interesting stable of contributors, I feel that it's better value than The Intercooler (Frankel and Prosser's app/website venture) as you get a beautifully presented magazine as well as the content.

Gave up the subscription after editions 1-13, then entered one of their competitions and managed to win..
..
..
a signed copy of edition 14!

But now the barrel is dry.

I had a good time, but we drifted apart.
It's not you, it's me, etc etc

I have an active subscription. I got most of my car magazines on Readly now and I like being able to sit down with a drink to enjoy either this or Magneto.

I wondering if all is well at The Road Rat. Issue 17 is overdue, they are usually dropping teasers well in advance of publication but absolutely nothing this time and they are not responding to tweets on the subject. Instead they are pushing back issues and ‘bundles’ very hard. Smacks of cash-flow but I hope not as I love it.

Every time this thread pops up I half expect it to be someone mentioning it’s ceasing publication.
