Then I just hated it forever.

I've just finished "Broken Heart" by Tim Weaver, another good one in the David Raker series.

how so?

was it revealed as a complete work of fiction?

or was it a shorter walk than they expected....

Fiction I am afraid. It has never actually been 'revealed' as such, but a number of people have tried to research it and found nothing at all to support the story, concluding that it never happened.

Maybe I'm suffering from deja vu but I'm sure we had this exact conversation about this same book on this thread about 3 or 4 months ago?

I decided to try something different from the library, I seem to have got into a rut recently of crime thrillers and historical novels so I just picked a book semi-randomly and this was it.
Wins the title of the weirdest book I've read in a while.
It's a first person narrative by a sexually obsessed teenager who gets turned on by, well almost anything. He's in love with his girlfriend and his gay best friend, Robby and he and Robby accidentally trigger the end of the world at the hands of giant grasshopper-type creatures that hatch from infected townspeople.

You might like it, you might hate it, I suspect it's that kind of book. Despite myself I really enjoyed it.

Seem to be on a war theme at the moment, just finished this

Very good, left me wanting to read more in the series so will be looking to pick them up soon.

I'm now onto this

so far it is a quick and easy read, writing style can be a little odd in places though.

Currently half-way through this. Nicely written and with some very level-headed insight into the major (and some lesser) players on the world stage, why they behave the way they do, and the history behind it.

Just finished The Forgotten Highlander by Alistair Urquhart, as recommended by a few on here.

What a story. Was sorry to read of his passing earlier this month - 97 was some innings after everything he went through.

I'll keep an eye open for that, his stuff is usually very good with or without Spider.

I've just finished reading "See All Evil" by JS Raynor, an interesting story about an ex-soldier fitted with experimental eye implants and unexpected things happening.

Quite enjoyable but not as good as the Spider Shepherd stories IMO.

Just finished reading 'We are Legion" (We are Bob) by Dennis E Taylor .Great Sci-Fi with a fairly unusual concept and some good science. Lots of nerd references as well but kept light and very funny in places. Highly recommended.

Has anyone read the Booker Prize winning Novel ?

I was taken with his humble response and speech yesterday - if I wasn't in the midst of the second Thrones tome I'd give it a pop...

I've just finished "Behind Dead Eyes" by Howard Linskey, a good read so will keep a look out for any of his other stuff. Trying to decide what to go for next, I have the new Harlan Coben book "Home", but a pile of others as well.

I knew very little about one of the Nazi Party's most sinister members, so this felt like a necessary read.
