you need a non race (b) license which are about 26 pounds. entries to local motor club sprints are roughly £65 - £80 but hillclimbs are a bit more than that if i recall. you would only need an arrow showing which way "off" was on hte ignition and some fireproof overalls and a helme to compete.

You only need a sprint license for hillclimbs as there's only ever the one car on track at any time - national B or better required where a bunch of cars start on a grid..

(IIRC)...

Edit: Graham seems to disagree with me - he probably knows more than me but I fail to see why you'd need a B license for hillclimbing..

CarZee, I know what you mean, MSA states that you need at minimum a National B non-race license, 'non-race' basically meaning that you aren't racing with other people hence no need to do an ARDS course which costs about £150 or a little more I can't remember!

Yup it's entirely true apart from the 5 cars bit, i'm on my 3rd at the moment (the westy)! but driven plenty, ranging from a metro to a 2.6L Merc!

Was taught to drive in a farmers field when I was 8 (I could reach the pedals and see over the steering wheel at that age) in a 2.0 Cavalier, It's extrememly frustrating for me as I have 122 days exactly untill i'm 17 !

So if we do this sprint thing can us bikers come too?? coz with 0-100 in 5.6 on a 'busa i can't see much coming close, as even the Zonda & R500 are 2 secnds slower to 100 with the radical 3 secs off.

Iguana - I'm keen on your sport quattro buddy doing it if none of these TVR boys have the balls to put put their wheels where their mouths are...

At least you can be fairly sure the Audi won't break down.

The distinct advantage of the cars is that we can go round corners quick too

1/4 mile though

Corners a fair comment BUT dont forget the EVO test at bedford in last yrs track test a Yam R1 faster then every car round the track bar the R500......

The rider is the most important thing in making a bike fast far more important than even in a tricky car like a 400hp TVR. A recent aricle had an experienced bike journo on a bike launch in Spain and despite him being a very experienced road and track day rider, a current world superbike rider was something like 8 seconds a lap quicker on the same bike!!

Bonce, you not volunteering your motah?

Actually, one of the guys from the BEC group went along and took three Fury BECS - they should be appearing on TG in the near future. It was very wet (rather than randomly wet corners - what was that all about?!?) and they chose not to use the BEC RGB racer but went with a standard lardy road car.

Remember the car will be driven by "the stig" (who apparently even the production crew don't know the identity of, but is said to be old, french, and a heavy smoker) and that the Zonda is bloody quick and will take a bit of beating - it was getting 150 on the straight, and has 7.3 litres of V12 goodness to get it there. Even an R500 would struggle with that top end, I think a Radical is the only hope, short of something quite highly modified.

Moom.

Iguana

Didn't you see the Evo test where the Radical beat everything, including bike, around Bedford?
