I must confess,I didn't actually read all of this thread before posting my comments, but my point was that any thoughts of weight saving or even weight re-distribution are ideas in the right direction. Also,I was so impressed by the modest mods. made to the BMW making such an instantly noticeable difference.

I was serious, saving weight is the easiest way to improve the performance of your car. That's why race cars are stripped of all the unneeded stuff. 'Police Driver' doesn't quite get the big picture though. Folding his seats down and emptying the ash tray doesn't knock two seconds of his 0-60 time

Well I folded my back seats down this morning and arrived at work 10 minutes before I left home! Mind you, I did have a dump and a piss before I left. Hang on, I also had a shave. Does this invalidate the experiment?

Tsk, I've been asking my passengers (especially attractive ladies) to wind their seats right back and lie flat for years...

...funny how many of them refuse though.

He's a "Response driver" with the police, aged 24 and lives in Camden (Doric Way).

Oh the joys of the internet.....

Yes you can hear a bit more, but obviously I am not prepared to go into such detail that will reveal police tactics and training methods

Then took driving test, Passed.

Then went through 2 GATSO's within 2 days, 53 and 47 in a 30mph zone, so 7 points on m licence. DVLA have a new rule that if you acheive 6 + points in your firdt 2 years of having a licence, your licence is REVOKED, and you have to retake all the tests.

This is his driving history? How did he become a police driver with 7 points on his licence?!

joking aside, which is hard when you have a numpty of these proportions, but if this bloke really does do police driving I find that extremely worrying - he obviously hasn't got the first clue about how a car or general physics work, how on earth is he going to control one at speed?!
