Radar detector use

I regularly see in EVO mag adds for radar-detecting devices. Are these really legal in the UK?
Has anyone used them in continental Europe? Are they legal?

i have read reports that in France they can fine and (or) confiscate detectors ? i think that was from Car mag ,,,

so what happened to "La Liberation"

a word of warning.

As from 01.01.2002 radar detectors are illegal in Germany. The german lawmakers have finally caught up on us

Illegal in Belgium - mine was confiscated there.

The french are particularly nasty. They'll oblige you to drive over it, and then still fine you HEAVILY.

Netherlands - don't know.

i can tell you that in the netherlands there are a lot of peolpe who use these things because there are so many of those %^&*$ cameras! only prob is that they wont be legal anymore in a sort periode of time..... (but then you can use those stingers which are buildt in and wont be able to be spotted that easy)
