Again, not best moment ever, but pleasing.

My Dad, today, as I was about to follow him and Mum out of Coventry, not knowing the way: "When we get on the M6 I want you to see you flooring it past me..."

OK then...

Seems he almost approves of the TVR after all

Favorite driving moment? Got to be last time I did Lydden in the dry. Managed to out-brake myself on the way in to Chesson's drift and turned in slightly sideways and quite a bit faster than I intended. Red mist got the better of me and for some reason I thought I could get away with it so I balanced the car on the throttle and pushed on with a quarter turn or so of opposite lock and loads of power. Ran out to within a couple of inches of the outside of the track ("don't worry, the tyre wall will protect the armco") and grabbed fourth as I hit the rev limit at 100 ish mid bend, with the car still well sideways and *loads* of tyre squeal . Anyway, long story short, I got away with it, fifteen seconds or so of continuous opposite lock power slide including a gear change, with no run-off to mention and armco on both sides. It's a fine line between bravery and stupidity, this was definitely stupid and after the shaking stopped I promised not to do anything so stupid again. But it *was* great fun! Wish I had caught it on the in-car video!

Happy new year all.

Cheers,

WalterU,

Sorry, you are right - I do mean better rather than worse.... But you get the idea though. Currently the motoring press (Autocar in particular) is having a big debate about the Skoda Octavia RS (180BHP 1.8T) versus the Seat Lean 20VT (180BHP 1.8T).... It seems that the Skoda is almost as fast as an Audi TT 225 - suggesting that the power figures are somewhat different than those published. Funny thing is that the gearboxes are the same....

Still, enough about VAG cars - how about something more interesting..?

Cheers,

Paul
