I was given a rusty old micra by my great aunt, they said I could trade it against something better if I wanted, so I took it home, made the whole rear valance out of fibreglass, bit in the sills etc, it was very clean inside but very rusty. A local dealer had a very clean mini (just had a respray) I’d checked over in the day light, I went back that evening and he took the micra and parked outside the Co-op so he could see it in the light he did a straight swap on the mini, I think I got the best deal on that one

I don't feel so bad now, looks like I'm not alone.

Car I sold wasn't dangerous it just wouldn't start if you parked up hill and either the head gasket had gone or it had worn bores. Not bad once you got it going though.

Sold a car to one of the quick buying services, got a good price for it after the mental man maths of the approx £1k of immediate work it needed doing (brakes all round and some bushes) and trouble i could feel brewing on the engine side and hence didn't want to punt it privately - thats another £2.5k of parts. It popped up at auction then off to dealers. It sold quickly and got taxed, but then back up for sale after about 2 weeks. I think it must have been rejected. Still for sale, £500 hike on the price too. Reckon I got out just in time. Guilty? A little.. but i'm 2 sellers removed at this stage so who knows whats happened to it.
