Could you DRIVE from John 'o Groats to Singapore?!
Discussion
Okay so there were one or two sea voyages, but maximum respect due considering the car (1954 Morris Oxford) in question.

TVR, if your wife is Chinese, what are we waiting for?
The wife currently has those controceptive strips in her arm, which are due to stop working in around 1 years time. After which, I fear children will be on the way, (shes getting broody). If we were to do any triplike this, then it must be done before she fall pregnant, (unless i have a vacectamy and don't tell her).
I really want to do it. It would be the sort of thing that you would remember for the rest of your life. I think that it would be fun. She thinks that it would be bloody dangerous.
All a question of time and money I'm afraid. And at the moment, I don't have a great deal of either.
I came up with the idea last time I flew to China, looking out below across vast expanses of land, driving suddenly seemed a much better option than sitting in economy class for 12 hours, plus I absolutly hate flying.
I couldn't see the bit across China being a major problem for us. Both her Father and her Brother-in-law are 'connected' and have a lot of friends out there, although whether their influance stretches to the provences, I don't know.
I guess time and money is an issue, I can get something sorted, I don't know about you though. It would be me, my brother and a mate going in a V8 Land Cruiser, it's just the whole safety in numbers thing, I have read a few accounts on the internet about people driving through China with a tour guide so even if she can't arrange something, it can be done.
Face it, if you don't do this in the next couple of years, frankly you will never do it.

Don't ask why I've been thinking about this! (OK, it's a combination of beer and looking for Guam on Google Earth after reading about that Stealth bomber that crashed!)
Anyway, apart from having to get the Channel Tunnel (Which is still technically land travel and you could stay in the car), is it theoretically possible to drive all the way from the UK to Singapore?! (Without getting a boat!) If your being pedantic we can always say Calais to Singapore.....
Looking at Google Maps it appears possible, but Geography was never my strongest subject!
I do remember Peter Duncan (Blue Peter) doing something like trying to drive around the world, but all I really remember about that was he didn't manage it!
Cheers.

All of those statements are completely true and inextricably linked.Dangerous = challenging = memorable = fun (in hindsight sometimes, admittedly)
