ExCel London parking?

Planning a visit to the motor show with a mate, was wondering if anyone knew roughly how much the parking is per hour/day at excel?

Just don't drive... goto somewhere on the north side on the DLR (Stratford in) and train it in.

Not knowing the best places to park in and around London, and having done most of the journey by car from the Midlands parking there seemed like a decent idea unless it's crazy pricey.

£15 for the entire day, that's not too shocking with the tickets being cheap I guess.

I work in Canary Wharf and live outside of Leicester, so some experience in this.... Getting out after an event in Excel is a nightmare far easier to drive an hour and a bit park up spend 30mins on the train and 30mins back... Overall you will save time and probably cash.. IMO

Fair enough, I could imagine that's very true, could you point me in the direction of somewhere that's cheap and handy for the DLR?

Really depends where you are comming from.

My main route: -

Leicester -> St Pancras, Northern Line -> Bank -> DLR to Canary Wharf - 2hrs (another 10mins to ExCel)

Weekend cost would be <£50 (www.nationalrail.co.uk) all in return for 1st Class as an advance purchase and you won't do it any faster or cheaper by road.

Can you confirm how much parking is roughly?

Last time they laid on free buses from a nearby 'under the arches' type of car park. As far as I remember about 5 mins away from Excel, and only £5 all day. Obviously prices will have gone up, (what hasn't these days), but it was a pretty well run affair...

think its about £9 and you park 2-4 min away from the doors

Excellent, even with the cost of petrol and tickets it's a pretty cheap event to attend

Does anybody know of any reasonably priced private parking at or around Excel (within 5/10 mins walk)? My experience of driving in for past events is that it's not too bad, as it's a straight run in for me, but that the official excel parking charges are a rip off. I remember there used to be private parking facilities run by an entrepreneurial individual at the boat club next door to the show halls (£5 all day parking), but on my last visit that car park was closed.

best thing to do is head towards the west entrance then follow the signs for 'purple or orange parking' and you actually park in excel - done it on Tuesday... £10 all day and you are right in the middle of everything.... carpark was pretty much empty as everyone is going all round to the multi storeys by the hotels...

The park and ride they have set up is £10 but otherwise is pain free to use. just over the connaught bridge

All day parking is £10 at Excel itself.
Follow signs to the West entrance. when you get there, they will try and direct you into one of the car parks further away. Just say that you're picking someone, not parking. You can drive right up to Excel and park in the underground car park. Escalator up and you're in. Also buy tickets there without having to queue.

agree - we went Friday, saw the orange car parks afterwards but were directed to multi storey near hotels literally 2min walk from entrance - £10 all day - not too bad TBH.
Traffic heavy for 10-15mins getting out onto B/W tunnel sthn approach but after that no prob.

The DLR makes a veal truck look luxurious when there's an event at Excel. I made the mistake of going by train at the weekend and it was bloody awful. I use the tube regularly too so am no stranger to being cramped on the train.

Does anyone know any safe roads nearby to the excel I can park on a Sunday?

Or does anyone know a good tube/train station to park at a few stops away, coming from Surrey way?
