Either the calibra (when it was working)

Or my 1.0 1988 VW Polo Coupe - the most bulletproof car I have ever owned

The second of my two Fiat Coupe 20V Turbos - sensibly and sensitively fettled with to produce a genuine and safe 300+bhp. An exteremly rapid (in a straight line at least) and gorgeous sounding car.

I love the individual feel of the Coupe; a modern classic to my eye.

I really am beginning to like the Fiat Coupé although the insurance catagories seem to be a bit silly

ETA: I'd also have my E34 518i back as it was luxurious and not as slow as you'd think

Really? My E34 525 isn't exactly fast.. nice when they get up to speed but until then...snoooze...
I didn't say it was quick I just said it wasn't as slow as you'd think, trying to conserve momentum was the challenge, that made it fun biggrin I loved that car.

My 1st 309 GTi, I was only 19 when I got it and I really learned to drive in it. The guy that owned it previously had had it from new and it was perfect and had been fettled with in various ways smile

I stupidly sold it to a mate who could not drive it for toffee and had the pleasure of being in the back seat when he decided to to take a shortcut over a roundabout.

After months of lurking I had to dive into this subject with my first post.

Would have to nominate my 1985/B Cavalier SRi that I had in 1990/91. May not appear an inspired choice compared with some of the delicious metal nominated by others and is probably along the lines of not going out with an old girlfriend again....but time has passed and the rose tinted specs are well and truly on.

After going from a 1.1 Fiesta the Cav felt like a missile and I remember the sheer joy of not having to chug up even the slightest gradients in third gear anymore. The non-assisted steering was a pain and so was the random appearance of rust but it had cred with my mates and, at 21, that was essential. Girls were, sadly, not impressed but with the 115 wild horses beneath my right foot I did not care.

Useless info for older viewers: when I bought it the glove box had some of those metal-framed flip tops off Grolsch lager bottles rattling around in it. This was at the time when such items were tragically worn on shoes, as inspired by the poncey pop group Bros. I asked the last owner and he had worn these to a nightclub, taken them off and then forgotten about them.

I'd love my 1994 jeep cherokee back, nothing like sitting in a tank equipped with leather armchairs, cruise control set and the 4 litre six just grumbling away.

Awesome car for a 22 yr old!

I'd have it back in a shot... if I could still afford to run it!

My 1980 XR3. Bog basic, no electric windows etc but it was immaculate and a nice fun car to drive. Just wish it had been the proper red one and not that orangey red that ford used.

This one:

Looked great, Gran Turismo game soundtrack when driven with whooshing and chuffing from the turbo 2 feet behind my head, excellent driving position, quick enough to provide an adrenaline rush and making proper progress in it was rewarding (the constant challenge of not stuffing it basically, particularly in the wet). I've had faster cars, and certainly cars with more proficient chassis since, but there was always a little sense of occasion for me when I drove the MR2 Turbo.

It now lives just a mile along the road from me, being rebuilt as a trackday car. I had overheating/HG woes with it and eventually sold it in that state to someone willing to take it on for much, much less than I paid for it.

My alfa 33. It stank of oil and was really noisy and uncomfortable to drive but I remember pulling away from the lights and turning right when I first had it, flooring it and wheelspinning for about 100 feet all the way through the lights and up the main road. Not that it was massively overpowered, just bad tires and very low weight. It was impressive to me and my mate though!
