I can't help drawing attention to this nugget (From the Allegro vs Astra vs Orion):

"What driver, when walking away from his Allegro Vanden Plas, could fail to cast a proud glance back at this lean and seductive machine"

Here it is... REVIEW
This is a fantastic example of the kind of witty satire and self-deprecation that is so sorely missing from the modern day world of 'HDR and handshakes' car journalism.

Thanks for doing all that scanning. Looking back cars are comparatively a lot cheaper now,

Don't suppose anyone's got a copy of the April 1992 autocar? With the BMW 325i vs Corrado VR6 test?

Do you mean the 29th April issue Rich....with the 325i and VR6 on the front cover on the beach....and the pic of the 325i cornering on 3 wheels on page 4 of the test?
The issue that's got the Renault A610 test in?

This is great, i really appreciate people like yourself who take the time to do this sort of stuff so that people like me (lazy) can re-live their youth...

I have it! Framed a copy of the cover for posterity when I sold my VR6. VR6 dumps on the 325i if I remember...

Which is why I'm intrigued to have a read, I've already offered to buy another standard 325i to challenge a VR6 owning mate on a trackday but he's unwilling to take up the challenge.

Car mag had a group test with the Corrado VR6 vs 325i( also 220 Turbo Coupe and Prelude VTEC ) in the Jan 93 issue. Fast Lane had something similar in Nov 1992 but included the 318iS coupe and Corrado 16v as well. Also, CAR mag had a twin test of the VR6 Golf against the 325i in the December 91 copy, as indeed did Autocar in the 6/11/91 issue

Only just noticed this sorry Mike, tried to PM you but it says you don't accept emails. Could I possibly pop round one evening this week to borrow it off you?
