The Fusion is awful! I can't believe Ford are still producing it. I've driven a few recently, and I couldn't note any redeeming factors whatsoever.

Does anyone know if it's being replaced?

My uncle is 72, but as he's got older he finds the mondeo and focus impossible to get in and out of.
It's perfect for him!
Soon to be seen pinning a pedestrian against a wall near you!

No offence to you uncle, but it does worry me somewhat when someone who can barely get in and out of a car is allowed to pilot one. Is his automatic too? My dad saw some old woman hobble along and struggle in to her automatic car, seconds before she pinned a young mother to the wall opposite her car and kept her foot in, killing her.

Bit of a pointles car, its the weakest link in Fords otherwise good line-up today.

The tall driving position appeals to older drives and they are quite practical, but other than that there is little attraction. Its uglier, slower and less economical than the model its based on, and although they cost more new they depreciate rapidly and end up been worth less...

I guess you can say the same kinda things about a VW Golf Plus.

Does anyone else remember the adverts for the Fusion? The hip new car to cruise the city inhehe Which would make other drivers look on with envylaugh Although widely adopted by the blue rinse brigade now, this wasn't the hoped target buyer. Perhaps they might have sold more if they had aimed for them in the first place.

The guy at the end finds his inner man, or is it sheer frustration that he bought the worst 'lifestyle' car ever?

I hate all of these stupid, bloated versions of already stunningly bland cars. Bloody Vauxhall Meriva, that inflated Golf. Always driven badly, either by old giffers or mothers driving brats from A to B.
Try getting a triple extension ladder, 3/4 ton of cement, a bath and a christmas tree in a fiesta (at the same time), and stay below everyones radar....

The solution to that problem is: rent a bloody van. Hardly justification for driving a woeful bagoste the other 364 days a year is it?

Surely it's not hard to see the appeal to the older element of society?

- A bit higher than a normal car, while not being 4x4 high = easy to get in and out without bending down. Anyone who's ever injured muscles in their back knows how painful it can be bending down to the seat in a conventional car.

- Higher ride height, softer suspension = more comfortable ride, especially over potholes and speedbumps.

- Roughly Fiesta length/width = easy to park, but with enough space for dog/grandkids.

I have to say, I assumed they'd stopped making them - I wonder how long it'll last now the Fiesta has moved on to it's new platform?

As for the Golf Plus, some friends just bought one. If you essentially want a Golf, but want more boot space and rear seats that fold flat, why not? At 3 years old they're a hell of a lot cheaper than the equivalent Golf too.

Is that the one with the pilock piling magazines under his arse to get a better view at the theatre...with absolutley no regard to the poor person sitting behind? Yep remember that.

Funny thing is the Ford homologated car for NASCAR is called a fusion....but it aint a jumped up Fiesta.

They are cheaper because people don't like them. VW dealers have an impossible time trying to shift them, so hence the residuals are appalling and they are worth a lot less than a normal Golf.

Does the Golf estate not do this?

35cm longer, which is a lot if you have to hunt for parking spaces on the road. No more boot space than the Plus and the mk5 estate is less than 2 years old making them pretty pricey still.

Too early to say with the MK5 estate as it hasnt been out long, but the predicted residuals are stronger than those for the Golf Plus at 40% for a 2.0 TDI as apposed to 37%.

This is tediousley boring hehe but the boot space in the estate is 505litres and the Plus is 395 litres with the rear seats slid back, and 500 litres with the seats further forward (which leaves rear occupants with no legroom).

EDIT: Boring fact no.2, with the rear seats folded flat the Plus has 1450 litres and the Estate 1550 litres whistle

There you go.

What he said.

Just because someone has a bad back, doesn't make them murderously incompetent automatic drivers.

Nowt wrong with this car..........
