Hi All

First let me say many thanks to you guys for indicating you might be able to make it next Saturday.
I've tried to e mail you all directly, but in the event that it didn't work, here's the details.

I hope you can all make it on the day. I know that some of you are still 50/50 with other committments and stuff, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

If you get lost, just call my mobile phone: 07798 813468 and I'll talk you in!

OK, some details.

The event:

Dethick/Lea/ Holloway Village carnival.

Venue:

Lea Green , Lea.

Time to be in position:

2.00pm, Saturday 26th June.

The carnival start proper when the floats arrive from there walk (with band) from Holloway. (about 2.15) You will see my blue wedge parked in the display area.
All in all, if everyone attends as might be able, we will have up to 15 cars, ranging from wedges, Tuscans, Porsches, a nice Ferrari or two.
You may be required top answer some questions about your beastie!
You and your families will be most welcome to enjoy the carnival too. - It's all very traditional stuff, with Tea tent, coconut shy, plant stall, ducking stool, display ring (we've got sheep dogs herding ducks this year!) and other stuff. When the sun shines it's truly lovely.

Dethick's only claim to fame is that Simon Groom (ex Blue Peter presenter) comes from here!

Anyway, it's very close to Matlock, Chesterfield, J28 M1, etc.

If you are coming from the M1 North, come off at J28, and follow signs for A38 south. After a couple of miles come off and follow signs to Matlock.
You will come through a little village called Wessington, and a couple of miles after this you will see a turning to your left marked Holloway and Lea.. Take this turn and stay on this road till you come down into the village, and eventually you will see the Jug and Glass pub on your right. Lea Green is just past this on the left - there are large signs at the gated entrance.
Parking Marshalls (actually some boy scouts) will guide you to the little display area.

If you are coming from the M1 South, follow the same directions as above

If you are coming from Chesterfield/Sheffield way, take the Matlock road and follow it all the way down, past the Matlock golf club and then down another mile or two to the staggered cross roads at the bottom of Starkholmes road. Turn left as if heading towards Alfreton and go up the hill, through Tansley, Carry on past Matlock garden centre and after another mile or so you will see a turning to your right marked Holloway and Lea. (Ignore the Dethick road a few meters before this. Turn right, go along to the end, and turn right again. Stay on this road till you come down into the village, and eventually you will see the Jug and Glass pub on your right. Lea Green is just past this on the left - there are large signs at the gated entrance.

If you are coming from Macclesfield/Manchester way, come over the Cat and Fiddle (yeah!) and follow signs to Matlock . When you reach crown island (the roundabout in the middle of Matlock) go straight over it as if heading to Alfreton. Go out of Matlock and up the hill, through Tansley, Carry on past Matlock garden centre and after another mile or so you will see a turning to your right marked Holloway and Lea. (Ignore the Dethick road a few meters before this. Turn right, go along to the end, and turn right again. Stay on this road till you come down into the village, and eventually you will see the Jug and Glass pub on your right. Lea Green is just past this on the left - there are large signs at the gated entrance.

If I've missed anyone's directions off this please let me know.

If you get lost, just head for Matlock, or Crich (home of the national Tramway Museum and give me a call - 07798 813468.

Thanks again all - I'm very gratefull!

Andy

Why do these things happen when I've got the kids for the weekend?! Otherwise I'd have brought the Tamora. Might still pop along to keep the kids entertained. It would be nice to meet you again, Andy - not seen you since we met at RT Racing - Can you organise some decent weather though?

I'll have a word about the weather with the powers that be, but there's no saying whether my Jedi Knight status cuts any mustard with him (or her or it) upstairs!

Many many many thanks to those indomitable Pistonheaders who braved the rain and came along.
You all know who you are.
I've had people in the village calling to ask if " the guy with the nice silver car got home ok, because his engine sounded awfully noisy!"

Mind you, Steves SEAC is a bit loud!

Thanks again everyone.
