I doubt there is much in the price spec for spec vs a standard.
They came well equipped as standard with leather and electric seats etc
Still miss mine...
Hmmm, electric seats... That should offset the benefit of the sound deadening removal nicely....!They came well equipped as standard with leather and electric seats etc

IMHO, I think a standard 330 with MV1s looks better, and I personally think the marmite spoiler looks completely ste.
I really can't see these ever becoming truly sought-after classics - I reckon a contemporary Alpina would hold it's value far better in time...

Remember, that just because a car gets looks doesn't make it good - the looks will not always be admiring. I look at these when I see them, and think - why?
Take a 330ci, chav it up and call it a clubsport - not for me thanks. That spoiler - dear oh dear. These will never have classic status - why would they?
Alpina B3 please, or as said - a 330Ci Sport on MVs.

I've put one of these on my "next to own" list, especially if I can get one like this with an SMG gearbox.

It would have to be Estoril Blue though not silver.
SSG. A freinds Clubsport with SSG went caput recently dumping fluid into the electrics $$$.http://www.autoprestigecars.co.uk/details.asp?offs...

SSG is crap no better than an auto IMO nothing like SMG.

I pass an Estoril Blue one every day on the way to work. It's always parked nose in so the first thing I see is the "challenging" spoiler. It does nothing for me if I'm honest, same with the wheels (which are all flaky) but the colour is beautiful, especially in sunlight. All IMHO of course.
Previously, I've owned two 330's and I'd go for the right car (spec / condition / mileage) over one of these as I think it's a very feeble compromise. They could have cut an awful lot of weight out of it or played with the suspension / brakes / steering.
It all depends on the price and if it tickles you though. It's your money and of course everyone's tastes vsry.
Good luck!

So to some it up:
- It was a rip of brand new , hardly anyone bought one.
- Basically a standard 330ci but with a different spoiler + lip, sound deadening removed.
- An equired taste, to most of which it doesnt suit.
- Alloys can flake and lip can smash off which is expensive to replace.
I'l still take one please

You do occasionally see E46 M3s with the clubsport spoiler (perhaps it was an option on the CS version?) but it's not my cup of tea and clearly doesn't add anything aerodynamically.
Never had any problems with the wheels on my clubsport and loved it to bits despite what others may think of them!

I've never understood the spoiler either. If an M3 doesn't need one, why does the clubsport?
You could get a similar if not identical spoiler on the M3, fortunately not many ticked the option box.I had a 330ci sport previously, the only reason I'd pick a clubsport over it would be for the colours it's available in.
My Dad had one and didn't like the spoiler so he had another bootlid with the M3 lip spoiler fitted. When we sold it (on here) it went with both bootlids...
You could choose the normal Sport alloys as a no cost option over the five spoke jobs by the way.
If I remember rightly it also had some exclusive kick plates on the sills, short throw gearshift, sports seats with half leather half M-tech patterned cloth as well as the usual M-Sport bits. Lovely car!

Alot of people seem to commet on the rear spoiler of the Clubsport , Alot of people don't seem to realise that it was put there for a reason. The Spoiler was designed by M-tech to produce downforce and still is one of the only spoilers on the market that does what it say's. If you read the correct review's on the car it will tell you rather than guessing that BMW made a mistake.

I would like to see the lap times versus a bongo 330 Sport for comparison. It's a gimic IMO.rb5230 said:

I don't see how it offers any benefit over a nice - cheaper - 330ci Sport.
well i would say a huge benefit is that it looks far less boring and plain and you are unlikely to come across another 100 of them every day on your journeys, so a bit more exclusive.monthefish said:

The only thing I'm not sure about is the spoiler, still can't make up my mind!
It makes a great sound, no quicker than a 330 (so I'm told) but it does seem to attract interest.
I've heard of problems with the clubsport wheels cracking, so watch out for this. But buy one!

Thought I'd bring this thread back to life as prices of good E46 coupes are on the rise.
I have a Clubsport is Estoril blue, and I love it. I do quite a few trackdays a year and a annual trip to the Nurburgring in it.
In addition to what previous posters have speculated on the CS spec, it also has a quicker steering rack 3 turns as opposed to 3.5 lock to lock, a 500 rpm higher rev limit, and a revised undertray to aid with aero along with the rear spoiler.
I have also super-charged mine, it now makes a unique alternative to an M3.
