RE: PH Fleet Update: Jaguar XFR
Discussion
Had the XF SV8 for 6 months myself before it became one of our "fleet" cars. Utterly brilliant, still love using it every now and again when it is available. Have driven the XFR on a couple of occasions and can only echo all of the comments made - great car, great to drive, great value (especially used) and way nicer the the current crop of M's and AMG rivals!
I picked up an SV8 last summer. Took it on a Euro tour in September (incl Stelvio) and I can't think of another car that would have been better for the journey (aside from an XFR that is). 80% of the power of an XFR for 50% of the price, a great alternative whilst waiting for depreciation on the 'R to kick-in.
Unfortunately you are right! Just shows how sod's law can work against you after posting a blog.
After collecting it from a member on Friday, during the trip back on the M62 the "restricted performance" message flashed up on the display all sounded a bit rough. After 10 miles it went off and all was normal again so dropped it off at Hatfields for a check up. This is the 2nd time this has happened in 30k miles, whilst it is annoying it is probably just a glitch - anyway the team at Hatfields are great.
Our 5.0 XKR has now covered 12k miles and has experienced a fault with the Aircon - again fixed quickly by Hatfields. That car is simply fan bloody tastic- everything an Aston should be without the costs.
Still believe both the Jags are way better than the German competition despite the odd glitch.
ps Am I being stalked? I cannot be the only XF driver to go to Hatfields!

a very capeable car, no doubt about it - but, that rear end styling and badging is awful. Its just not "special" enough and is too mainstream like a mid-range Ford rather than a Jag. The leaping cat badge looks like a Halfords special that the owner has stuck on themselves.
(but I would be happy to borrow it for a few months)

Are you on medication? It's bloody lovely and i'm sure it'll be remembered in time as one of THE great super saloons.

!
The German competition have more than their fair share of glitches - it's just not publicised as much as they are on Jags. Got to keep my A4 for another year, then it's an XF S for me. Not and XFR I know - I just do too many miles to be able to keep one of those shod in tyres and the tank filled up.!

I agree the headlights could be more like the original show car but the rest is just great. And who cares the leaper anyway if the car is terrific.

Random bump here
Friend’s dad works for jaguar and had one on test to check the headlights which he designs for most jaguar's/land rovers....
Just took me out in it for 20 minutes and must admit most amazing car I have ever been in the acceleration really is savage the thing just keeps on pulling the way it got up to 110/120 just beggars the mind for such a big car. Also it was one of the most comfy cars I have sat it and the stereo it was amazing as well. Traction control on these wet roads was certainly necessary though it was still coming in at 70mph as roads were soaked and even with it back end would still come out nicely on the corners. In my opinion this has to be one of the finest cars on sale today the interior is a special place to sit and uber comfy the acceleration is savage oh and the headlights work just fine as well Literally just walked in and even as a passenger the adrenaline is still pumping now possibly due to the “spirited” way in which it was being driven lol
