Don't know if it's been said before but that is a top shed.

BTCC Mondeo engine reference, plus rotisserie paint job.

The one I knew did get the front bumper knocked in a supermarket car park. It was expensive to get mended but perhaps that's because the volumes never meant large stocks of spare parts and dealers trying to match the factory paint finish?

I've owned two of these, and was probably the most active club member for a while. The club has since closed along with my hours of work detailing cam-belt changes etc frown
Anyway...
They are beautiful cars to drive and very good looking in the right colour. I don't like this example in maroon, but my two Mica Blue ones were very pleasing to the eye.
They aren't the fastest cars in the world, but the V6 is quite and extremely refined. Not many petrol V6's will return 36mpg. They are great motorway mile-munchers, back seat legroom is good, and the boot is huge. The interiors are very well laid out with every electrical gadget you will need. 4x electric windows, A/C, Sunroof, C/L etc etc.
Sadly they are starting to suffer from rust, mainly on the rear arches and around the sunroof/windscreen area. Shame because they are very unique and 'different'.

I had a Coral Silver Xedos 6 (pronounced Ker-say-dos 6) and IMO this was by far the best colour. Interestingly had the same problem with rust around the windscreen. When I first had the car the engine was so quiet that even outside you could barely hear it at idle. The quality of fit and finish was superb and, of course, you weren't driving the usual Bimmer/Audi fodder....

My dad had one of these when I was a kid. It was silver-grey with cream leather. Had the 2.0 V6 with an auto gearbox and even though I was small I can remember it being really dull and slow compared to what he had before it, an E36 325i SE. Thankfully he saw sense and chopped it in after a few months for an E36 325i Sport!

Pretty dull shed I must say, the V6 is the only thing it has going for it!

This is actually quite a good 'shed'..

Those that have been in them/driven them/owned them, appreciate them, mostly.

Those that haven't and are just going by the write up/looks don't appreciate it.

Good shedding imo.

Please tell me you didn't join just to make that joke?

As for the shed I think it looks hideous, obviously it was meant to be marketed in America because it reminds me a lot of a Pontiac or Dodge, I've forgotten which but it's equally attractive....
I'm sure they're great cars and all and it's definitely good value though.

Had this rust free 80,000 mls. Xedos 6 auto for the last 6 years !
Approx.total expenditure apart from servicing and engine oil changes

New anti roll bar £ 120.00
Brake pads £ 140.00
Back exhaust £ 80.00
Set of tyres £ 250.00
Battery. £ 50.00

Apart from a slightly juddery drivers window motor all other electrics are fine
Aircon is ice cold. Apart from a couple of my old V12 Jags - this has the smoothest engine of all.
So it seats four adults comfortably,is reasonably frugle on fuel, has a big boot, runs a silky smooth
engine with a responsive autobox - I think Mazda has been voted most reliable car manufacturer in the world.
Will those making rude and sarcastic comments please name 5 preferable choices.Don't forget you have a budget of £ 600.00

Looks nice.
Just make sure you do a FULL auto box oil change every few years to keep it working. If you don't, it WILL eventually give up the ghost and cost mega bucks to fix.

Was there a Xedos 9 as well or am I imagining that ?

I have the 1994 (or is it 1995) BTCC season review video and there's a huge crash with a Xedos in it.

Great shed. Always fancied these at the time, and have never heard it called anything other than key-say-dos.

Xedos 9 Miller was supercharged wasn't it?

2.3 v6, with 209BHP

Sadly 0-62 took 9.5 seconds..... nothing a remap couldn't sort
The 2.3 sounded interesting, but why did they bother when it wasn't that fast - you'd think it should be in the mid sevens. Are there any remapped ones about and how quick are they

I owned a 1992 Xedos 6 for three years (60k miles) sold it at 90k without ever spending a penny on repairs. Most reliable car you could own with the smoothest V6 engine on the market. The looks weren't to everyones taste but those that liked it thought it was a much more expensive car than was actually the case. Top car for your money IMHO.

Just to mix things up, as stated on the back page of autocar about a year ago it should be pronnounced coh-he-dos. In my head with a slightly racist 70's kung fu accent.

SOTW should have been the supercharged Xedos Miller.

All well and and good, but the trick would be a) finding one for b) less than a grand, surely?
I had the misfortune to drive one that a friend had bought on ebay for £700 about 100 miles to relay to him. It was knackered! No brakes to speak of, gearbox was thumping like a good 'un, wheels felt like it was only the memory of suspension components that was holding them in place. It also locked its rear wheels after being left overnight, and only 100 yards of dragging them freed them up. The previous owner was "pleased to see it go to someone who would take care of it". I didn't have the heart to tell him that within a week, it would be cut in half and the only decent bit of it, that mad-as-carrot-jam engine, was going into a rather odd trackday project. On disassembly, it had apparently been crahsed heavily more than once. I was left with that feeling Hammond showed after finding out he'd done 145Mph in a car that scored six.
