Any suggestions for where to get a HPI check? Is it best to go to the HPI website or somebody like The AA or RAC?
Cheers

I'm just about to do a HPI check on a car I have put a deposit down on. I'm using the Pistonheads one above and it's asking for the chassis number, mileage, v5 serial number and document issue date.

Is this standard information required? I can get it from the seller if required but I don't recall needing this information to do one in the past!

If its any good to you, drop me a PM with the registration and mileage and I'll do an Experian search for you when I get back to work on Friday.

I used the one linked to at the top of the thread to do mine in the end. Cost £20, but gave lots of details which were very helpful.

HPI is a brand that offers a car check. They're the most well known for the service but others offer a similar check like RAC Passport check and Total Car check.

AA also offer a check service but it's via HPI; they're whitelabled partners.

HPI is the way to go. They offer a basic check now for £9.99 but it excludes some important information like outstanding finance agreement numbers etc. As you'd guess, this is one of their upsells. The premium check is £19.99 and includes everything on offer with a 30k guarantee (but check their terms and conditions on that

Hope this helps.
