It would be Button's Canada race for me, IF I HAD ACTUALLY fkING SEEING IT. stty BBC switching channels half way through and stupid crappy Sky+ box not working it out.
Still pisses me off to this day.
My virgin box just stopped after a while, still pisses me of to this day!Still pisses me off to this day.
Favourite driver is Hamilton as I think he provides great entertainment on track. Favourite race is his win in Brazil.
Favorite drivers, would have to be hill, Montoya or raikonen. Hill because I grew up watching him as a kid, Montoya and raikonen because I remember seeing them when I started watching motorsport and saw them in the junior formula coming through and predicted they would make eat drivers. Plus they're a bit out of the usual f1 mould which is nice to see.
Favorite race, well I started watching in 94, but my favorite races would be hills win in the Jordan at spa, when he won the championship in 96 at Suzuka or hamilton winning the championship in Brazil. Oh and buttons win in the brawn in Australia!

Jimmy Clark was my hero when I first became interested in motor racing when I was about 10 and reading my Dad's Motor Sport every month.
You hardly ever saw F1 on the TV then, but I remember seeing the 1967 Italian GP and Jimmy making up a lap at the old (pre chicane) Monza only to run short of fuel.
Since then there have been some great races. I was lucky enough to witness James Hunt "win" the British Grand Prix at Brands in 1976 and Nigel Mansell beating Nelson Piquet at the same venue ten years later.
I wasn't at Silverstone the following year to see "our Noige" repeat his victory with the famous dummy move only to run out of fuel after the flag and be mobbed by the crowd.
More recently, Lewis Hamilton taking the WDC title in '08 and Button's victory in Canada have already been mentioned. I think Hamilton is the fastest man out there at the moment.
Best non-F1 drive? Moss in the 1955 Mille Miglia- no question

My favourite driver as a child was Mansell. But the 'classic' races (Silverstone '87, Hungary '89, etc) I was just a little too young to fully appreciate.
Of the more recent stuff, I'd agree with Button in Canada but will also put forward Hamilton in Brazil 2008. For sheer edge-of-your-seat, it doesn't get much better than that.

The "Living on a different planet" accolade has to go to S.Moss in the 1961 Manaco GP. He was at least 20BHP down ( N.B. 1500cc engines), and, in an obsolete Lotus against the three 1961 Sharknose Ferrari's. (Enzo's 1961 equivalent of today's Adrian Newey/ Red Bull roadshow). Tavoni's pit board to Richie Ginther said "Give All" but neither Ginther , Phill Hill or Von Trips could keep up. Moss's Mille Miglia win in 1955 was also a master class and it must rank at the same level as Monaco.
I have to say that "our Nige", given a half decent motor, was a joy to watch. I especially appreciated seeing him give a particular Brazilian driver the 'heave ho'when he was under threat of being run off the road, on one occasion. I note that said Brazilian did not try these antics again with 'our Nige').

Mansell and Mexico 1990. I can still remember watching the race sat right in front of the TV. The race had started with highlights and part way through " jumping live to the race now". Fantastic memory. Lewis ain't to shabby either.

Stirling Moss is undoubtedly the greatest racing driver I have ever seen personally. His legendary and exceptionally smooth whilst outstandingly quick driving, set a standard that few could follow. Unbeatable in the rain when the inferior machinery he drove in an attempt to get British cars into F1, were much less disadvantaged against the far more powerful foreign cars. Undoubtedly the greatest racing driver never to win world championship. Jim Clark was also a brilliant driver as his rewards confirm. But for me Stirling Moss was and currently sill is the greatest.
Was always a massive Mansell fan in his era. Massive Hamilton fan now. Both of them would be on my shortlist for fave driver.
But possibly pipping both would be Martin Brundle.
For reasons I can't put my finger on, I always desperately wanted him to win. [Also, I thought he was a great commentator on the Beeb, though obviously that's irrelevant to this thread.]
Favorite race: in common with many folks on here, Canada 2011 and Brazil 2008 are up there.
But I think Silverstone 87 grabs the top slot for me: Mansell fighting back from nowhere, then stuffing it up Piquet at Stowe, still gives me goosebumps.

I find it really hard to pick a favourite - I'm of the Mansell / Hill generation - but I also really got behind Warwick and Cheever in the Arrows. Both of them could drag that car around to places it shouldn't be.
But I also rated Berger - who could well have been a World Champion with a bit more luck (and probably would have been had it not been for the complete dominance of the McLaren Honda in 1988).
There have been loads of really likeable drivers over the years - Nannini, Alesi, Irvine, to name a few - and who can't have a soft spot for the likes of Ivan Capelli, and Gugelmin for their antics in the ever so pretty Leyton House / March cars.
There have been some really stand out races for me - Hungary often surprises - remember Mansell starting from 12th and his overtake on Senna for the win? - or Hill nearly sneaking a win in an absolutely shocking Arrows. Canada and Button will always be remembered by anyone who watched it...
This, though, will always stick in my mind:
For the current crop of F1 drivers - that is how you race.

Fave is our Nige, but there's probably a lot if brit bia there. Always a scrapper, some ballsy moves, but not the daft do or die that other "racers" get so praised for.
