Quite surprised when Ant Davidson suggested quite a few mid-field drivers don't get paid even after the end of the season! Are these events covered and/or written into their contracts?
They probably don't get paid because their seat is paid for by a sponsor ala Maldonado, Pic, VDG, Chilton. Grojean is paid by Total I believe. If Raikkonen hasn't been paid a bean all season you've got to say enough at some point. He's not short of a bob clearly but that's not the point - if an agreement is made it must be honoured.

I havent been able to access this interview so excuse me if it was covered.
Is he saying he has been paid absolute ZERO since race 1, or, as I have been told its just the bonus money he is gets paid for points?
I've not heard Grosjean mention not being paid.
He said he'd "been paid zero Euro the whole year". That seems pretty unequivocal to me. Is he saying he has been paid absolute ZERO since race 1, or, as I have been told its just the bonus money he is gets paid for points?
I've not heard Grosjean mention not being paid.

Seem to recall a similar thing being said on the BBC last week by DC. Suzi Perry expressed surprise and asked EJ about it. The basic question was along the lines of "You sailed close to the wind did you ever not pay drivers" and his response was that he had always paid drivers what they were owed but others hadn't always done so.Part of the problem being that drivers want to drive and I guess they worry that if they rock the boat they wont be offered a drive by a different team.

Lotus are 65% Genii Capital and 35% Infinity Racing.
Infinity Racing are unconnected with the Infinity brand and are an investment consortium.
Not true yet...and that's the problem....Infinity Racing are unconnected with the Infinity brand and are an investment consortium.

If it also happened last year I don't see why this year is a surprise to him. Why make a fuss about it now, bit of a coincidence after what happened last week.
It's like promises about this year were made and not kept. It's no coincidence that this follows last week. If he's only racing because he likes racing enough to not mind the piss being taken on the wages front last weekend is going so somewhat dampen that enthusiasm.toppstuff said:
Personally, I find Kimi to be an overrated, incommunicative, rather arrogant bore.
I don't think he is necessarily all that fast anymore, either.
The only thing he does have in his favour is the thick skin he is meant to have. If he really does not give a monkeys about anything, then he will let the BS at Ferrari wash right over him.
I suspect Kimi could flop badly at Ferrari. If Alonso is still there and feeling motivated, he will have the team skipping to his orders. Kimi will just sit there and get grumpy, his motivation will wane and pretty soon he is just making up the numbers. If Fred went to McLaren however, he could do well if Ferrari treat him as number one.
I don't really see what other people see in him.
The trouble is that Alonso needs an arm around his shoulder all the time and constant reassurance that he is getting the best deal. Kimi just turns up and drives. As long as he is paid he doesn't give a fk about any of the politics.I don't think he is necessarily all that fast anymore, either.

Alonso is more likely to be the one to let it get to him next year.

In the F1 show this morning they said he is paid per point, they gave the impression it's totted up at the end of the season and Kimi gets paid then.
He has a base salary of (from bbc website) Raikkonen's Lotus salary is eight million euros (£6.7m) plus a bonus of 50,000 euros (£42,000) a point. That means Lotus so far owe him 17.15m euros (£14.5m) this year.I think lotus's excuse that they pay kimi last because he's a millionaire is unfair if it wasn't for his input this season they'd have a fair few less constructors points.

Withholding services is the only means, after prior agreements have not been honored, is the only way to resolve issues like this. And those who say they don't rate Kimi - he's 3rd in the drivers championship FFS! And he's driving a car that was/ is off the pace. Lotus are only where they are because of Kimi for crying out loud.
The man deserves to be paid.
The man deserves to be paid.

This....but....The man deserves to be paid.
Eric Boullier made what I thought was a good point. That is that the team is having cashflow problems. His priority is to the staff who need to be paid their wages in order to live, to pay mortgages, to feed their families. When companies are faced with these sorts of blips (and many do), a pecking order kicks in and people with many millions in the bank already and who need not lift another finger for the rest of their lives, often - and IMO, rightly - find themselves a little lower down that pecking order.

I guess there are other things happening as well
