Massive thread bump. Heikki had surgery recently for an ascending aortic aneurism, he's had open heart surgery and is now recovering at home.

During Q2 coverage of the Japanese GP Andrew Bension on BBC Radio 5 ran down a list of how Hamilton's team mates compared to him in qualifying. Heikki was worst and Valtteri was second worst.

Poor chap. I used to know him fairly well - he ended up dating/marrying the daughter of one of the drivers of the team I was connected to. Nice guy (probably too nice for the F1 game) who had some interesting stories about Flavio Briatore.

massive respect for Heikki, at Goodwood f.o.s he once did an unofficial sub 39-second run up the hill in a 2005 Renault F1 car, it was insane. Even supposedly average F1 drivers are on another level

Fingers crossed for his recovery.
Met him at a Renault open day/test day, the year before he was promoted from test to race seat. Was such a nice chap unlike the grumpy race driver from Spain.
