I don't think the Merc package is the big advantage its made out to be to be honest. Red Bull's issue is down to Adrian Newey's love of tightly packaging his cars, we've seen the last couple of years with the problems they've had with KERS. It's just that with the extra heat from the turbo setup and hybrid systems it's costing them more than the aero advantage is gaining in the long run.

I think it will be closer than that , also at some stage RB will get their act together and start to at least split the two mercs
I agree. Merc (and particularly Rosberg) have to fear Red Bull pulling their finger out soon and start taking points away.
Anxiety to make hay while the sun shines may have contributed to last Saturday's events.
6 races in and very little evidence that RBR will do anything this season other than finish 2nd in the CC and score 3rd place podiums. Monaco should have been their race to shine but the Mercs were able to pull away after the SC at > 1 second per lap while fighting.

RBR will be lucky to get 3rd in Canada - I reckon The Hulk will do well there. Spa and Monza will also be very tough for RBR.
I have to agree that RBR will not catch up a lot with Mercedes. I still see them getting a lot of 3/4th place finishes, but the last race made them seem closer than they normally will be due to the circuit design. I wonder what will happen in the last race - basically it sounds like it will probably rely on the results there, so I wonder if we will see a "Senna" to win the championship?

I think the Mercedes still have a little in hand. Just look at the the releative laptimes when running normally and then just after a safety car (was it Bahrain and also Monaco). In both cases they turned everything up to full and scampered away at over 1sec per lap, sometimes more.

I suspect they have enough in hand to fend off challenges for the season and whilst they are running below maximum performance they should be well within reliability limits too. Rather ominous for the others.

How long is Red Bull's contract with Renault for? Can't see Merc or Ferrari selling Red Bull engines, but nmaybe Honda?

"The team has used Renault engines since 2007, and has a contract to do so until 2016."

I hope it's decided one way or the other by then rather than by this stupid rule - or for the finishing order to not impact the winner.

I think I'll have my own private results table with normal scoring.

Thanks to the guys on the previous pages for working out those stats!

I guess the red bull catching up and splitting the Mercs and by that I mean pushing rosberg to 3rd or 4th a few times seems to be more ideal for LH

Although I would sleep easier if LH did wrap it up before the final race

I really want the Driver's Championship to be wrapped up, preferably by Hamilton, before the final race. Just to ps off all the people at Abu Dhabi who paid more for the race to be the last one and get the rules changed! laugh

It would be great if it was decided in Brazil.

Park that bad boy outside the casino. They'll be moving donkeys and lambos out of the way for it.

Currently en route to Monaco in my boss's DB6 - pic taken today in the Swiss alps... driving

Hoping to drive around at least part of the track while we are there; not sure whether to take the car into Monaco or hire a couple of motor scooters in Nice, any tips?
A few years back a group of us in TVRs visited Monaco one evening and the local police were very friendly, even waving us on to do laps of the circuit. It was only a week or so before the race so most of the Armco was erected. There's a multi-story by Casino Square where we parked but once we realised it was quite acceptable to drive the circuit we got the cars out and had some fun.

Into the tunnel:
I remember giving it the full throttle into that tunnel an some bloody pedestrians started to step out onto that crossing! eek The last thing I expected was to see two people come out of that hole in the wall on the right!

Fortunately the Griff was so blooming loud in there that they shat themselves and jumped behind the Armco as I passed. hehe

There were police everywhere, and pedestrians, so we couldn't get any speed up but it was great fun just cruising around the circuit, and chatting to other enthusiasts while parked up at Casino.

We went on to Le Mans yesterday, expecting just to take a few photos and visit the museum, but completely by chance it was a test day for the 24 hours race with all the works teams there; how lucky is that! hehe

You're not making any friends here, you do know that don't you. wink

As you're there: Buy this
