One thing to remember is AN isn't all about aero, he is about building fast racing cars. it so happens this in last 20 years been aero dominated. Remember the trick breaking system at Mclaren?
The 'third pedal' from the late 90s? Paddy Lowe was in charge of that project, not Newey.

I hope it's Americas Cup racing.

I'd love to see Red Bull finance a Team Red Bull UK entry designed by him and skippered by Ainslie. Can't think of anyone else with the financial clout to match Larry Ellison and I believe the raw talent is there.
just wondering if it was you looking for information concerning VICE ADMIRAL JOE WILLIAMS, If so I might be able to help.

I doubt it, as it's exceedingly dangerous. Redbull are all about feelgood stuff that looks cool, not actual real dangerous activities.

eek if you're into aero & fluid dynamics how can you not be into these beasts?! Just imagine how much influence you can have on something when a fraction of a percent increase in efficiency can have such huge gains.

I know nothing about this and just had a quick look on Wiki and couldn't find out; what's the distance or format of this race?

2 boats on the course in a series of head to head races. It's worth a look on youtube to see just how impressive these things are.

This. Is there anyone else who could be compared to Newey in terms of what he's achieved in F1 design - why stay?

It's the equivalent of letting him loose in the world's biggest sweet (well, carbon) shop - and wouldn't the return of the America's Cup just be the crowning glory on his career. Irresistible for him.

I agree, and as well as a motorsport fan he's a big sailing enthusiast, so given Sir Ben Ainslie already saying he's talked to him about it, I'd say it's odds on he'll be involved in some way.

I still wouldn't rule at a possible Lemans venture at some point in the future, as I think he'd quit fancy the Triple Crown as a designer, with multiple F1 championship winning designs and several CART and Indy 500 winning designs under his belt, a Lemans 24hr winning design would give him the Triple Crown.

For those who haven't seen much of it before, have a look at this red bull video on the oracle team;

http://youtu.be/kECYxBKHguM

As I said, absolutely amazing feats of design

The weak link is increasingly the army of ants running around on what passes for deck, I guess.

What level of electronic control systems, if any, exist on these beasts, and what are the regs which apply to their use, do you know?
