CATERHAM F1 TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Leafield Technical Centre, UK - 2nd July 2014

Caterham F1 Team is pleased to confirm that Tony Fernandes and his partners have sold the team to a consortium of Swiss and Middle Eastern investors, advised by former F1 Team Principal Colin Kolles.

Under the terms of the sale, the team will continue to race as Caterham F1 Team and will remain based at Leafield for the foreseeable future.

The new ownership takes charge with immediate effect. Former Dutch F1 driver, Christijan Albers, assisted by Manfredi Ravetto, will take over the day-to-day running of the team, reporting directly to the board and replacing Cyril Abiteboul who will leave the team to pursue new challenges.

Christijan Albers:"We are aware of the huge challenge ahead of us given the fight at the bottom end of the Championship and our target now is to aim for tenth place in the 2014 Championship. We are very committed to the future of the team and we will ensure that the team has the necessary resources to develop and grow and achieve everything it is capable of.”

I thought Kolles was already involved with one of the new teams for 2015, the other new team being the Gene Haas outfit.

Looks like Forza Rossa has just merged into this deal. Seems like there a few Kolles connections in this deal.

So the team that wasn't for sale on the 27th May according to its owner, has been sold. What a surprise...

Will Buxton tweeted that there are lots of rumours but "a usually impeccable source reckons its about to be bought by a very familiar source" and then followed up with "if true I don't imagine they'll be getting their hands on Mercedes engines any time soon"

So, familiar name, possibly at odds with Merc..
I get this reference now, According to wikipedia Colin Kolles allegedly tried to blackmail Toto over a recording of him slagging of Mercedes F1 team management.

A man with a list of nothing but F1 success... I'd be more worried now for the team than ever.

Kolles just keeps turning up like a bad penny. What is it about this guy?

Well, as opposed to them all losing their jobs and losing a team from the grid.

Indeed. Anybody at Caterham who isn't looking already, will be starting today...

Don't forget that Kolles is billed just as an adviser. He also has his foot in the door with the other team and this'll just be a bit of good PR for him.

I'm not betting anything.

But I'm proud to wish them success rather than wish them doom out of spite for Kolles.

Sorry but that's just the way you come across, and others too.

edit don't wish to sound sanctimonious either, but I just like F1 and want all the teams to be financially sound. I don't understand the negativity from others sometimes!
