She's being touted for Top Gear now. Oh dear, she won't go away will she?

Maybe it was Toto's decision - the dead horse had been flogged for way too long any way.
Actually, I'd have liked to see her get a race or two just to prove the point one way or another as a sort of 'put up or shut up'.
Perhaps Susie should go into politics - when discussing her reasons for retirement in her BBC interview this morning, at no point did she mention the glaringly obvious fact that she was just TOO SLOW.
Interesting you say that. In one of the few data points we have, she was just 0.7s slower than Massa, a guy with a seriously impressive track record.

She probably was a bit too slow (but slower than, say, Will Stevens?), but her age was also against her. Pity, I'd have liked to see her get a race or two.
There are lots of 'data points' all the way through her career which was notable only for its lack of success.

Even if she were quicker than Stevens, which is questionable, she still wouldnt be worth a seat in a Williams and its not reasonable to make a comparison with Massa during practice sessions when they are running a set programme and not out to set the fastest times.

Must be the least successful sportsperson of all time to announce her 'retirement' live on BBC Breakfast.
I'm definitely not saying she was quicker than Coulthard, but she did achieve better results in DTM than him - he managed all of 16th, 16th and 15th in the championships..
She managed 17th, 20th, 18th, 16th and 13th then for two years she wasn't classified. Yes she managed to beat a retired mid field F1 driver in his first year of DTM, when she was in her 5th, but even he beat her the next two years.

Let's see, a very good driver, British, easy on the eye, good name recognition and immediately available. Also appeals to both a male and a female audience.

Bonkers to even consider her.

The BBC are giving a lot of coverage to this 'retirement' by a test driver. I wonder if they are doing this because they know she is being lined up for the new Top Gear? La Stigette?
She'd be pretty obvious as the Stig's replacement and who said the Stig was going to be replaced assuming it's kept on.

Will Stevens has at least managed to win the odd race in his career.

Susie Wolff has never managed to win a race in either Formula Renault, British Formula Three, or in DTM.
(And it wasn't always the car, for example in the 2004 Formula Renault championship her team mate won 6 races).

I don't think it'll be that long before we see a woman in F1, but Susie Wolff wasn't the one.

Sophia Floersch looked very impressive in the Ginetta series, so will be interesting to see how she does now she has set her sights on single seaters.

@Susie_Wolff: Early start. Emotional day ahead. @BBCBreakfast 7.40am. ? https://t.co/c2DBvsBoSG

Her first tweet this morning made me laugh. I'm emotional because I'm retiring from doing nothing.

It think it might be appropriate to post this video she did, titled Never Giving Up.

That may well be true, but have you ever heard any of her interviews?
She has absolutely no charisma. Bit of a problem when you have to present stuff on the telly.

On Sky News, they said that she thought F1 wasn't ready for a female driver.

If she does get on Top Gear, anyone pay me £10 for every time she mentions that she used to be a F1 driver?

I wasn't aware she'd ever started racing. Trundling around being average, yes.

A classic case of a person being in a sport for her marketing potential and simply being a female over actual talent.

I think F1 is more than ready for a female driver but they would have to be as quick as the slowest male driver. When one is it will be great PR for that team.

Or, instead of Top Gear, what about replacing Suzy Perry for the F1 coverage?

Seems a bit obvious, but she would be where Toto is all year.....

Why do TG need a Stig like character? Just bring in Chris Harris - job jobbed.

I've also formally announced my F1 retirement too. Now where do I pick up my big pension and set off into the sunset?

PH really can be nasty old place some times.

Best of luck to her - if testing restrictions hadn't been so ridiculous we'd have had a much better idea of her pace. But regardless, she followed her dreams and I for one can't criticise her for that.
