WW2 ended many years ago. There's no need for these kind of comments and in today's world there's certainly nothing wrong with Germans.

Believe it or not, they are just like the British in so many ways.
I expect they mean "the German's " - not "the Germans" (ie Vettel specifically)

Can't say I'm going to be an avid follower of his music career if that's what's in store but good luck to him if he enjoys doing it. Didn't Jacques Villeneuve have a dalliance with the music industry. I don't remember an outcry about that so why all the fuss with what Hamilton gets up to in his spare time.

Where was the war mentioned? People are entitled to dislike the Germans without needing to reference the war.

"The only good German is a dead one"

That's what my grandparents were taught at school. WW1 and WW2 would be the only plausible explanation for a dislike of Germans. Perhaps there's another reason for an irrational dislike that I'm missing?

You have some issues.

Given in this context "the Germans" is referring to Vettel and/or Rosberg, the dislike is quite easy to explain down to sporting rivalry combined with some unlikeable character traits.

All drivers have things they do other than racing.

Jarno Trulli ran a vineyard and had his own brand of wine. I'm not saying he crushed the grapes himself but it must have taken up a lot of his time.

What about Senna and his foundation..

I really don't want to get into a pedantic debate about a missing apostrophe.

I know full well that when he originally said "wipe the smugness off the Germans face" that he was referring to Vettel and Vettel alone, not the nation of Germany.

However, when I look at that comment, I can't help but feel that when he said Germans (when he should have put German's) that he meant it in a derogatory way. If Vettel was from Pakistan and he said "wipe the smugness off the Pakistani's face" then he would rightly be accused of racism. Why is it any different for a German?

Maybe I should of said 'vettels face' as being smug has nothing to do with him being German, since someone bought the war into it let me just clarify some things, I don't dislike Germans even though I'm Polish, my dad was a prisoner of war, my mum as a young girl and her mum and dad were once dragged out of their house and were moments away from being executed because the Germans got wind that they'd helped a Jewish boy evade capture, they had but the boy was long gone by then, also helped that a old German neighbour came and convinced them they were mistaken and that if she had seen the Jewish boy she would of been the first to report it, the Germans fell for it and left, they could of course just shot everybody, how lucky was I.

What's done is done, even Germans aren't proud of what went on and that's enough for me. As for vettel, I quite like him outside of a car, very funny guy but in a car he's a bit of a knob!

Speed is not his issue. It's speed and aggression at the right time in the season.

For me his music is not my taste and sounds way over produced. If thats what he want's to do then let him get on with it. But I don't believe you can have 2 careers at that kind of level without one of them suffering and he seems more interested in being a global brand and 'star' then in winning races, you can see this from his drop in performance.

I lost respect for him when he decided to go to Canada to watch a basketball game and get photographed there then attend the Autosport awards. Would he even show up to BBC SPOTY?! Probably not.

I think he would. Not sure he has much time for the "inward gazing" awards like Autosport but I think he loves the British public and they are generally positive to him...

rant on...

A bit like the FIA Gala, the Autosport awards are a bit passé in my view.

The FIA wind me up as much as FOM these days in their failure to understand how to market the sport.

One of the best 5 mins of footage that might get someone interested in F1 was the 2010 Gala Video that is constantly taken down from youtube, etc. It's a brief retrospective of the sport and the 2010 highlights. Clips like this should be all over the web sites...

Found it at daily motion, but youtube has nothing.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xg65wc_fia-gala-2...

rant off.

Might want to look again then. He was at an event for George Lucas and then at the White House.
