I tried the sky coverage this weekend via now TV, I didn't care for it. Found the commentary way to shout and artificially excited and the over analysis of the slightest incident is painful.

Much prefer Ben Edwards, Webber, Coulthard etc... a more natural and genuinely interested team.
Couldn't agree more, it's extremely annoying to have to choose to listen to the sky team in order to watch live. I do want to watch live though so I just have to put up with it.
What about RTL (and their app)?

Ben is a likeable , smart and decent young man . His employment at C4 works because we are talking about it . The fact is that had the poor lad not lost his legs he would not have this gig - why would any even half decent F4 /F3 driver be employed for this gig ? The shorts thing is not unusual - I've known several amputees well , and each made a point of wearing shorts/ short sleeved shirts - I guess to say' I'm not embarrassed about this , hope you're not either ?'

His commentary is excellent for someone of his youth and inexperience - but that doesn't mean it really adds any new insights .

But then I'm watching the German footage with commentary muted and listening via radio for out of sync English commentary - is that right?

I see it says the FTA German stream also has ad breaks during the race..?

I personally don't have an issue paying to view on sky, I just wish sky had the BBC presenter/commentary team. Just gagging croft and bribing Coulthard to replace him would be enough smile

I have Sky too, and with the Go app it’s excellent to have all my normal viewing when out and about. But I’ve also got a big old dish abroad so can grab these free-to-air feeds across Europe, which is a boon. biggrin

Just offering up another scenario.

Edward's and Coulthard's reaction to Vettel's spin on Sunday was hilarious!

Billy monger is doing ok, except... what is it about F1 people saying "for sure" all the time? Rosberg and others, now him!

The Sky sports app (not go) has race control as well as the TV feed (free for subscribers)!

Deuce, I can pair my phone to my TV system, and can play F1 TV access through the system while watching SKY, then you'll get the BBC commentary. (I'm sure you could also do this on 5 live too if you've got the right device). Give it a go.

Not just F1, it's prevalent across all motorsport, watch a full BTCC weekend and you'll hear it a lot during interviews!

Ok, I have F1TV app so I will try and listen to that next race. Will only work when I'm watching from home of course, I'm often working away so watch the whole thing through my phone screen wherever I am.

Are there no sync issues with different delays on the app for commentary and sky video feed? I have in my mind a scenario where if the video is ahead, it'll sound like it takes the commentators forever to react to an incident - but if the audio is ahead it'll sound like they have Jedi abilities and predict each incident just before it happens biggrin

Yes, live timing/f1 app is a few seconds ahead of sky, and would be about 30/40 seconds ahead of sky go, so youll need to time it right to pause the F1 app, id suggest the formation lap.

Sky Go is usually only a couple of seconds out of sync with R5L, at most.

Blimey you guys go deep! I’m just sitting with the BBQ and checking up every few minutes, banished to the garden.

I could only wish to have a proper command centre but I’m not the boss anymore frown

this is pretty much why in the end I just paid up for sky via NowTV. I can sit in the garden/office and watch on my phone/tablet. Weather permitting, the BBQ is always on here.

If I ever manage to beat Mrs Deuce to the TV remote I'll give it a go with the separate commentary stream. That's a big 'if' though!

as above depends on what devise/s you are using, my sky go/sky sports app is at least 30 off of sky (satellite), and my live timing is at least 10 seconds ahead of the satellite tv broadcast.

hehe my four year old has worked out the remote control, so things always go haywire during the race, then I'll get distracted and the iPad is suddenly off live timing, and iplayer kids has been booted up, the shed sounds like a plan.

But she likes the pink cars, so camping to spa it is then!

I think that was due to Ben Edwards reaction. Evidently he jumped up / threw up his arms in excitement when the spin happened and managed to tt Coulthard's headset & mic off his head and across the commentary box hehe

I have watched all the races this year on both NOWTV via Sky One, and C4.

The C4 coverage is by far the more professional and a pleasure to watch.

For the China race I will be watching C4, as I will not be getting up early.

So far this year F1 has cost me nothing to watch, as I already have a NOWTV Entertainment pass for £2.50/month, and C4 is great
for the races that are too early for me on a Sunday. smile

Will Buxton on YouTube does the same Post Race Analysis thing that Ted's Notebook on Sky used to do, and it's free.
