F1 on Channel 4

Martin Brundle is the best. I nearly started a thread in appreciation of him after the Styrian Grand Prix because of his excellent grid walk and superb and inclusive commentary through the race. He was doing a great job of explaining the basics to any possible first time watchers. You’d think that with all of his knowledge and experience he’d sit back and let Crofty do all of that.
However the rest of the Sky team are completely average or worse.
As a result I prefer the channel 4 team. The genuine chemistry between Coulthard, Webber and Jones makes them a lot more fun.
I've always liked Webber. He sometimes has an hilarious way of saying things. I really struggled with Jones at first but more recently watching the chemistry between him, DC and Webber has changed my mind. He has his own style but he also seems to have a geniune enjoyment of the sport, perhaps not so much for the technical side but for the human drama. I think they make a good team, and that together they are a lot better than they are as individuals. Synergy for those playing corporate buzzword bingo. However the rest of the Sky team are completely average or worse.

Their piece a while ago at the Red Bull facility was hilarious, when they were riding around on scooters or something.
Yep I love Webber, he is very frank and honest but also comes out with colourful and entertaining turns of phrase. The Webber scream in Baku exposed his excitement and enthusiasm for what was going on as well
I’ve recently started listening to Jones, Coulthard and Webber’s podcast ‘on the marbles’ which enables them to be crude and irreverent in a way which just isn’t possible in daytime sports coverage.

Does he do that every race, or at some point does he recognise that the majority of his audience are the same every week?HustleRussell said:

absolutely yeah, that was a highpoint, as was the whole Channel 4 team's online games afterwards to expose who it was who "screamed like a girl" I’ve recently started listening to Jones, Coulthard and Webber’s podcast ‘on the marbles’ which enables them to be crude and irreverent in a way which just isn’t possible in daytime sports coverage.
I’m another pretty much singing from the same songsheet as a lot of people on here
I really like Couthard’s delivery and his level of knowledge is good. He’s quite dry so Webber with him is a great combo
I am not a fan of monger - respect due to him for his recovery after the accident - but he’s not a presenter by any stretch. He doesn’t have the level of knowledge and his delivery is flat. The fact that his Covid test pulled him, Jones and Jacques (or “the new guy that doesn’t have a clue”) from the running last week was no bad thing
I was very happy for Edwards to be back. He is a different level to Jacques who leaves big gaps with no commentary and misses the bleeding obvious. In his short time on C4 I have lost count of the number of times I see something happen only for him to mention it 5 minutes later (if at all)
I didn’t even notice Jones was missing for a long while….

Just watching Sky with the bland personality devoid trio of Pinkham, DiResta and 'Sortof' Herbert (I just heard the phrase 'sort of' around 20 times in a minute)... CH4 is night and day to this. Damon was an asset to Sky with his knowledge even if he is a bit dry but it appears he's been benched?

No Brundle either. Might be due to the triple header, some of them are taking this weekend off.HustleRussell said:
Di Resta cannot step up. He is really grating on me. He says so little with so many awkward and oblique words.

Listen ........................................................................................ utter nonsense and drudgery.................................................................Listen.Recorder failed to record the race again. It has successfully captured every quali/practice session, even when repeated in the evening, and the build up and post-race analysis programmes. Just missed the race I assume this is something to do with the way the programmes are series tagged by Ch4.
Of course when I turn the box on to watch the programme back it is tuned to Ch4 and so I see who the winner was and then quickly switch to BBC to get away and the rolling breaking news gives a bit more info about the race.
Oh well. And now I can't watch on catchup until Ch4 puts the race onto More4 (midnight?).
Really frustrated.

Yes its nice seeing the number two drivers of C4 telling everyone whats what but Jones needs to dial it down. His outrage on the behalf of russell is getting a bit old.
The new interviewer doing driver interviews is flippin awful and I can only imagine that monger who at least talks clearly and intelligably was not available.
