Total disaster for me trying to watch F1 on Channel 4 this evening...

Put it on +1 because 5:30 is too early to have our dinner cooked by. Knew that the OH would want to watch Strictly so, no problem, I'll turn the TV onto BBC1 at 7:25 and continue watching the F1 on my laptop. Except...

There no C4+1 online, and if I put the "live" broadcast on I can't rewind it to the relevant point, so I figure I'll press the "Restart programme" button and ignore it until it gets to Lap 15 where I'd left off to turn the TV over. Except...

When it gets to 8pm, the time that the "live" broadcast finishes, the feed online starts buffering and then the caption "'Restart programme' is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." appears, so now I'll have to wait until god knows when to watch it on All 4.

Pile of crap.

Bad news for you, they take hours to get their all4 version up and running. For some reason it’s as if they’re uploading a massive file to youtube or something.

I know. If you read back through the thread you'll stumble across some of my previous rants. I've had to wait until Wednesday to watch some races!

Yeah it's very annoying, I give up and watch the 7 minute highlights on F1.com at that point

Well, miraculously, it's already on All 4 and I can position it to the relevant point of the race, so I'll crack on and watch it now.

Other than Steve Jones reckoning that he’s a comedian with his embarrassing jokes / sarcasm I think that Channel 4 are doing a good job.

Yes, I can see the Red Bull influence.
Danny R has just taken Steve Jones on a tour of the Red Bull Hospitality Unit.

There's already a pretty long running thread for C4 related F1 discussion (both good & bad) - not sure we really need another one getmecoat

Steve Jones is the biggest bell end on British tv. He's an unbelievably smug, arrogant, obnoxious moron who presents as if F1 revolves around him. C4 commentary team of Alex Jacques & DC are good, Lee McKenzie is very professional, knows how to present it's just an annoyance we have to put up with cretinous Steve Jones.

It's still leagues ahead of Sky simply because of Mark Webber and Lee McKenzie.

How Lee never got the lead role I will never know

They wanted a Celebrity-type person to balance out the knowledge IIRC at the time. Don't forget they were trying to appeal to the non=fans back then but in a subtle way.

Steve Jones is actually a decent person IRL, an old job meant our paths crossed a few times and he was perfectly fine unlike some people who are perceived as being very friendly.

Strangely Billy monger looks physically bigger today (Sunday) on the box. Alongside SJ, Mark and Jamie he seems to be bigger, taller and bulkier.

He does look like he's bulked up and given his height is pretty adjustable he may well have gotten taller.

I seem to remember reading she was offered it but turned it down as she wanted to do more than just F1. Pity because I rate her as the best F1 interviewer I've ever seen, she would have been excellent.

Pre and post race I'm having to put it back on SkyF1. Simon Lazenby has improved in recent years whereas Ch4 is still fronted by a coke-head.
