Lewis Hamilton

Some interesting tweets on Buxtons timeline, these from Ted K: "You might read about Lewis Hamilton storming out of a Merc press briefing just now. He didn't..." <clip> As always, reality is slightly different.
You kidding? The guy's a total bell-end, after all he's got a beard and wears a chain round his neck. What a knob 768 said:
I'd imagine he's had the ok to do that.
Trading the time for a Q&A with fans outside seems like a reasonable swap.
Don't you dare suggest such a thing !Trading the time for a Q&A with fans outside seems like a reasonable swap.
He is a knob with a sense of entitlement that is magnitudes above any other sports star at the top of a huge sport.
And he's got an earring !
I know all this because I have read it here... Over and over again, on every signal F1 related thread.
Some of you are really overreacting to this, which is ironic since the media quite often do exactly the same whenever LH does something. I can only think that people just love to hate him. I don't see how anyone cares so much about the press conferences - they really must be the most dull part of any sport.

Or maybe he doesn't care....
I think you are crediting him with too much intelligence. I said he seems to lack self-awareness, and his latest 'media don't respect me' nonsense beautifully affirms that. The media only react to what he says and how he behaves and, like it or not, that is the environment he has to work in and has to learn to work to the best effect. Blaming the media is like blaming the mirror because your reflection looks like st.He's being doing this long enough and there are enough people around him doing it properly for him to 'get' it without having to be a corporate robot.
He just comes across to me as not the brightest bulb in the pack. Nothing to do with being 'cool' or attracting a younger audience, unless you associate 'younger' with being a bit thick.

Maybe the press didn't have any interesting questions to ask the drivers so decided to pick on anything to make up for the silence. Don't know why he's been pulled up for playing with his phone this week when he's actually done this at numerous press conferences in the past. The Japanese are actually really into their tech and gadgets and 'cute' things so those snapchat pictures would have come across quite well.
Don't think the Japanese press have any front pages on hold to report on the massive disrespect lh has shown to their people

Go read Buxton's article on him from 2014. Hamilton is much smarter than you think. He's being doing this long enough and there are enough people around him doing it properly for him to 'get' it without having to be a corporate robot.

Haven't you got a more credible source?
In any case, I'm not sure it makes much difference to anything. Can't say I've heard him say much of any interest about anything worth expounding on.
I reckon he'll get fed up of not opening his mouth before the world does.

I've given up on these types of threads because of various posters who have no interest in facts and just keep posting the same BS all the time.

I feel really uncomfortable now to admit that I actually like LH.
I don't feel uncomfortable at all. He's one of the best drivers who ever lived.I like him for his sublime talent and the way he doesn't insist (as he could easily do as a multiple WDC) to have the scales tipped in his favour.
Imagine how much easier it would be if Rosberg had his wings contractually clipped instead of fighting him tooth and nail?

The only thing Hamilton has got going for him is that he's a very fast driver, he's exciting to watch and pulls off some overtakes that make me gasp.
Apart from that he's a rubbish driver. Can't see why people beef up this three times WDC.
I'm sure I could do a lot better with an identical car.

Lewis Hamilton divides popular opinion like no other driver since Nigel Mansell. Legend has it that when Mansell left Williams Patrick Head was asked what the team would miss most about him. "His driving" was the eventual reply.
"Yes, but what about Mansell the person?"
"His driving".
I suspect the same is true of Hamilton, or the Fresh Prince of Stevenage as he appears to be trying to style himself. And I suspect that he's less popular with the "older generation" of Formula 1 fans as he's trying to turn himself into one of those hippity-hoppity chaps who make such an awful racket.
As far as Press Conferences are concerned, my understanding is that the participants are selected some time in advance by the FIA and participation is more contractural than discretionary or optional. And, as any driver or constructor knows, rubbing the FIA up the wrong way is not the easiest way to win friends and influence those who run the sport. And hand out penalties.
