You sure it was advertised for weeks? It looks like they announced it 2 days ago at best.

he misses an event that was announced a couple of days ago, on the eve of his home grand prix where he will be doing vast amounts of media events and interviews, when trying to close down sebastians lead.
cant win with you lot, if he went to the event and lost this weekend, you would all be slamming him for taking his eye off the ball and doing unnecessary events like London!

The drivers and some others, knew about this a month ago....so unless he changed his mind, Mercedes would've known about his intentions not to attend and presumably has no concerns with this. Only Fernando and Stoffel in attendance I think.Car #6 is here. Presumably the incumbent WDC will be substituting for Lewis...
