I was just fishing and got a hook.

Hamilton was the best in 2017.

Don't agree with some of the rest however.

It seems to depend on the car you have.

Kimi nor Bottas should be in that list IMO.

So Lewis is the driver that team principals rate the highest. Some here probably think that this it is just some PC positive discrimation.

But behind Lewis and Max, it becomes more interesting. VB’s value has gone down, but Ocon clearly has a very bright future. CS overtakes NH and has suddenly made his star ascend.

Clearly every team with a Mercedes engine had to vote Hamilton.

biggrin

Hamilton always wins that vote; but Hamilton’s detractors continue to bleet on about him being overrated and anyone can do as well as him given that car; blah blah. I’ll take the word of F1 team bosses over the armchair experts any day.

As an aside; Vettel being outscored by Verstappen... backs up my own feeling that Vettel is brilliant but he’s not special.

I wonder what the exact question asked was. I'd be amazed if they think Ocon is faster than Alonso at present, but I can quite imagine that they'd rate him higher as a future prospect or a team asset because he still has much more of his career ahead of him.

I'm not sure what Kimi is doing up there by any metric though, after this performance this year.

Maybe it’s his sparkling personality that wows the corporate sponsors.

Maybe it’s cos he’s only ever mildly pissed off, as opposed to ecstatic with 7th place or suicidal with a dnf.

It's a contest for this season only remember. Who knows whether Alonso is at the top of his game. Ocon is demonstrably the best he's ever been, clearly an exciting future prospect. He's stacked up well against an experienced team mate (Perez is generally underrated IMO) and hasn't shied away from getting stuck in with the Red Bulls on occasion.

Nice picture of him and Billy #billywhizz monger at the FIA prizegiving last night. Although, he really should start to ask someone to explain the dress code requirements written on his invites.

They both look stupid. What’s your point? This thread is about LH not Petter Solberg.

Exactly. This thread is for the ridicule of Lewis only.
Lots of other famous sports people may dress like complete tools - we aren’t interested.

Lewis gave a talk in my office last week. He was engaging and enjoyable to listen to. He had his photo taken with some of the staff, signed things etc. Then, even though it wasn't planned, he spent an hour with disadvantaged kids from east London who were in the office for a Christmas gift giving. Spoke with them, had them taking selfies etc.

If it’s black tie then you might want to tell Adrian Newey, mcnish, buttton, Rosberg, Schumacher, solverg amongst others. Only need to do a google image search to find hamilton isn’t alone. But hey yeh let’s talk about Hamilton’s fashion rather than his driving or the fact he’s spent so much time this year engaging with billy monger. Typical troll trying to turn something nice that hamilton is doing, and just ridicule him for his looks instead

Dry your tears chap. Let's put the Billy photo-op to one side for a moment and see if your bestie changed out of his spangly diamante ensemble for when he was on stage with anyone else.

Oh. No. Still getting Black Tie confused with Liberace. How speshul.

ha no need to dry my tears. Just makes me smile when all you can do it take the piss out of the way someone dresses, despite winning the championship and being a great ambassador for the sport.

But hey if that’s the only thing you can moan about then Lewis is doing his job properly.

Finally a racing driver who is not boring as hell. Sure if the blond James Hunt will have done something like that in our time people will have praised how different he is than the others and blablabla.

Here's a pic of Max at the same event receiving his Personality of the Year trophy. For the third year in row. Proving that being able to dress like a 70s glitter ball does not mean you have a personality.
