Take him out! Seriously Jim, outside of F1, except when he's seen on the news winning or on the podium, most people are not interested in Lewis, Verstappen, Vettel. Alonso etc... Merc give Lewis a fairly easy ride. Don't forget, for a long time Mercedes had been seen as old men's cars. Lewis gives the brand a certain edginess in certain segments, especially AMG.
What are you going on about??

I said IF Hamilton continues to make huge faux pas regarding things like "boy's should not wear dresses" it would not be long before the lefties would take him down.

It does not matter what Lewis does for Mercedes off or on the track.

Clearly the fact he turns up with the said boy, buying him a princess dress, in a fixed situation for the press, shows how much Hamilton himself knows this and felt he had to act.

IMO it would have been better not to do this as he is being slated even more as people are not stupid.

This is the problem with modern society. You can't say anything without offending someone.
And you ask what am I going on about rolleyes

Yes. No matter what you a famous person does there's some censored who's going to try and take a negative out of it isn't there Jim?

Don’t have to be famous to do that.... at the end of the day famous people or just people... they fk up just like everyone else. Some are obvious things that yes, you would think... WTF, that’s not going to go down well but.... I don’t expect people to be perfect, because, well who is Jim?

There is a huge difference when your famous. You are obviously going to be scrutinised when your in the public eye.

When you are it should be second nature to think before posting something out to the World when you have so many followers.

Clearly many don't and it lands them in difficult situations.

Yes James, famous people are in the public eye. That’s obvious... you’re bothered about his hair, about him flaunting his wealth, hanging with his friends, not turning up to the London F1 thing and whatever else makes you pop a vein... me, at best I’ll raise an eyebrow but I’m not interested, I just don’t care... plenty of people do but plenty of people don’t either.
Kimi mumble like a fool, stumble around pissed... on camera say he was taking a sh!t... that’s cool, funny. If Lewis did that, you would be able to get on here quick enough. Same with Vettel and his antics, fk you charlie, fk off... no problem... I could understand it if you were so righteous about all the wrongs each driver did... as I say I don’t care what they do... as long as they’re doing it in the car, it’s all good.
Now you’re going to go on about they have a duty to the sponsors, to the team blah blah... and yet Lewis still sits in his Merc. Maybe they should all be like corporate robots... wooden tops...?

I have on many occasions stated that Vettel was way out of line and should have received harsher penalties. It was 100% clear that he also hit Hamilton which caused the puncture because he lost his position. What you have mentioned also basically went unpunished. Vettel is dirty and not one of the best in F1.

Kimi is a waste of a talent. Many like him but he was lucky with his Championship and has not done much since. He should have been out of the Ferrari years ago.

Also I have stated how poor Perez was this year. How he could not handle being beat by his new younger teammate.

But this is all on the track.

Whatever anyone thinks about his comments about his young nephew, posting anything like this on social media will mess with his head if it blows up.

If you think his social media is fine as what he does on track is what matters. What about 2016 when he basically gave a race win to Rosberg at the Japanese GP because of his behaviour at the drivers press conference. The flack he received about his behaviour basically messed his race and perhaps even his season.

Martin Brundle stated

Someone at Mercedes really needs to give Hamilton a poke because he is in danger of having his superb talent forgotten amid all the carry-on he is creating purely himself.

As the drivers revved up for yesterday’s Japanese Grand Prix, Sky Sports F1 pundit Brundle said: “Instead of focusing on the world championship, he seems to be focusing on an app that puts bunny ears on people. It’s childish and stupid.

So if you think what he posts is only going to mess with his private life then you are very much mistaken.

Yes Jim, one thing’s for sure, Hamilton’s professional career has taken a nosedive recently and he ought to watch it as he seems to have no opportunities or interests outside of F1. By being the most marketable and highest earning driver in F1 and a valuable asset in engaging a wider appeal for the sport he is surely making a rod for his own back.

Ah yes, Martin Brundle... he knows how to win a WDC... or two, or three... or four hehe

Put another way; Hamilton is the best driver in the best car having had the best career and seems to be only getting better. In other words; the distractions aren’t having enough of an effect, for a nobody like you to get so upset about; with all due respect smile

Having said that; the less distractions the better... for the most part and for most people. So if he could go faster by putting his phone down; I’d be all for it. For now; he’s managing pretty well doing what he wants.

Jim... I didn’t say it was ok... I said I don’t care as I don’t follow social media. I don’t use Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat or whatever else is out there.
I do know about the bunny ears thing and what Brundle said as it was reported in the papers. As I said he’s not perfect, he has clearly made mistakes, iljudged etc. The thing is, you focus on that. This thread proves that.. that you comment on what he must be thinking, how he feels. How do you know?
He has still managed to bag 4 WDC along the way.

Personally I think the guy's a breath of fresh air for F1. I'm in my mid-40s so may not relate to a lot of what he does in his spare time or posts on social media, but there is a whole generation out there who do relate to that sort of stuff and he seems to be the only F1 driver that is on that wavelength.

Interesting how Bernie's opinion is valid when it supports a view held by a PHer.

We are still talking about social media here aren't we?

Is anyone seriously going to suggest that Bernie's attitude towards social media is relevant?

No; purely that Lewis Hamilton has brought more fans to the sport than any other driver on the grid. He’s not Hamilton’s biggest fan so he had nothing to gain from saying it. I find Bernie only lies when it might benefit him in some way.

Added to that; many would agree.

Lewis has brought the World to his personal social media tweets by being stupid.

Is that something to be proud of?

I’m guessing he had millions of followers before the mishap, no?

You’re a sad man. In need of a life...

With all due respect of course.
