I think it's telling that this thread is running out of steam, even those that can't stand Hamilton are really struggling to find anything to bash him with now.

- Clearly exceptionally talented: check
- Almost entirely devoid of errors: check
- Work life balance that was controversial but clearly works perfectly for him: check

I found it interesting that the one tip that Hamilton gave Billy monger was to physically write notes after each session, balance, settings etc, get it all down in writing. He's done that since being a kid apparently.

Yup. They came with their claws out in the FIRST year Lewis made his appearance in F1, and have now slowly dispursed, one after the other.

It really was shocking and bizarre at the same time at the behaviour of motorsport fans (especially British) all those years ago during his debut season, which just continued season after season.

I do think Lewis has actually done quite well to stick to just the dumb st he's done, I can imagine most in the spotlight he's been under as an adult will have behaved FAR worse.

Example from pop involving F1 but not a current driver - Martin Brundle interviewing Ozzie Osbourne. Brundle noted something to the effect that he'd try to think of a question to which Ozzie's comment was the answer. Not sure anyone knew what Ozzie was saying especially Ozzie. Legend or leg end, ymmv..

When he first arrive he was arrogant, and seemed too involved in his fame and lifestyle.

Now he has matured as a person his is nowhere near as arrogant, and his success and fame make the lifestyle he leads far more acceptable. He's actually worked for it now, put in the hours and earned his success. That's not to say he hadn't put the work in in lower categories, but so has every other driver on the grid.

I read today that Lewis has won 7.5% of all Grand Prix's ever. Put like that sounds insane.

I think a lot of the time people mistake attacks on Hamiltons fans for attacks on Hamilton himself. Way too many of them have no idea of the history of the sport or what other drivers have done to get where they are.

There are dheads on both sides of the fence for sure.

I have never been a massive Hamilton fan, but to say he is anything other than one of the best drivers F1 has seen is to ignore the facts or be blinkered and blindfolded.

I also think that he has matured, he makes an effort to thank the team (he seemed to me to be one of the first to do this publicly - they now all do it). Would I want him as a dinner guest? No, I'd rather have Button or Brundle.

and he's won something like 1/3 of all races he competed in, which is equally insane.

A better record than Schumacher, although ironically that record is tainted by his 3 season Mercedes comeback.

David Coulthard had the highest points to starts ratio of all time (or top ten, or something like that) until his Red Bull years!

Crazy that Hamilton isnt in the top 10 youngest to start a race any more even.

36% pole position, 59% podium finishes and 4 wins in his rookie season also is just mental!
