I admire his driving but his behaviour in the press conference was rude.
Is that rude in the same sense as, for instance, Senna driving into Prost in order to win the WDC. 'Cause if so, that was very rude indeed.

I genuinely don't know what's more immature; Lewis Hamilton the world championship winning racing driver taking 30 seconds to snap chat a couple of rabbit ears onto a colleague, or the 50 - 100 Project and / or Middle Managers moaning about it for 5+ pages on an internet forum. For days on end.

Honestly, who really gives a toss? Who seriously gives a fk?!

82 comments in 24 hours, nearly a quarter as many as the entire Singapore GP thread already...over a snapchat post by a driver many will jump on at any opportunity (many presumably middle aged men, ironically).

I'm not sure if that's an indicator of how dull F1 must be as a sport, or how few characters there are in the sport willing to pop their head over the FIA mandated security fence occasionally.

For what it's worth, I'm four years younger than Hamilton and I can't even manage myself- but I thought his actions were a little immature and if I were his employer I'd want him to project a more professional image in the professional environment.

Giving Carlos Sainz a Deer face and ears made him look like Nicole Scherzinger?

Kimi doesn't like doing media but is more mature and knows it's a part of F1 so accepts it and does his bit.

Lewis seems to spit his dummy when he isn't winning. Can't see him taking the WDC so I fear we'll have several more weeks of his poor attitude to suffer.

That's the bit really, isn't it. It was only a short time out of his day FFS! Plus it is in the full glare of the media so either that's the image he wants to project of himself or he is lacking somewhat in self-awareness. So what if it 'kills him' - suck it up and think of the £££££s he's being paid to sit there, buck-up his act for watching millions and come up with some entertaining put-down about the whole thing.

Telling the world and their dog the 'st kills him' says he's just a petulant ungrateful little arse.

Some people (like the Kardashians and Victoria Beckham) have their public image totally stage-managed to get their internet clicks and headlines. Others are just interesting characters either because they are likeable, roguish or a bit of both.

Hamilton regularly acts like a dick, doesn't realise it, then plays the victim when it backlashes on him.

Gets me thinking of the time Kimi Raikonnen was asked by Martin Brundle why he missed some official startline ceremony and he replied sincerely into an open mike that he was 'taking a st'. I fell about laughing. In that instant Kimi demonstrated how it should be done.

He's not stupid. Everything he does is driven by some marketing motive.
I suspect this one is to highlight the fact he is using an iPhone, and not a Blackberry.
(When did the Blackberry/ Mercedes AMG F1 partnership end?)

Just as an FYI.

"This st kills me" means it's funny to him, as in it makes him laugh. Example "Watched Bad Neighbours 2 last night, that st kills me. So funny man."

He is therefore commenting that the animal faces on himself and the others drivers is making him chuckle.

40yo + media people misunderstand youth terminology and make something out of nothing.

Really is an incredible amount of pent up frustration coming out over this. It all seems to come down to Lewis refusing to conform to the 'norms' that many people expect of him. And if he isn't going to conform, then there are apparently some rebellious behaviours that are OK and others that are just wrong because we don't understand or personally enjoy them.... Amazing stuff.

The irony is that people used to love drivers that stepped out of line, and claim to want more of that today.

This is basically the modern version of that, you simply can't get away with partying/drinking now (and such things are massively in decline with youngsters anyway).

That a bunch of 40 year old don't understand that is not his problem.

If I had a £ for every time I've been asked a stupid, vacuous or mundane question in a meeting I'd be as rich as Lewis Hamilton, but if I started playing with my phone each time I'd probably get sacked or develop Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.
Then again I'd be as rich as Lewis Hamilton so I probably wouldn't give a st.
The only point of reference I have is the amount of time LH spent with the crowds off camera at last year's British G.P. (as much as he could), so I think his attitude to fans speaks for itself.
What I think we are seeing is the future of F1 publicity where instead of relying on tired hacks for our snippets the fans will engage with the drivers personally via social media.
Frankly I have very little interest in hearing the drivers tell someone for the umpteenth time that they're going to try to win by driving as fast as they can.
A bit of levity in a press conference is no bad thing.

I don't think it's so much the stepping out of line. If he missed the conference because he was partying with some strippers I'd say fair play.

The fact he sat there, in one of the most manners obsessed countries in the world and was completely rude for no reason other than he wanted to show he didn't care. The fact that his interest is in an a silly app that a 10yr old would find tedious makes it all the more disappointing.

Well, you do clearly.......

The people trying to make out its a bunch of 40 year old's not understanding youth terminology, Lewis is 31 for Christs sake!

OK lets be honest the pic of of Carlos is a bit homoerotic is it not? If he'd of done that to one of the pit girls i'd say fair play carry on.

You're upset because a racing driver isn't acting as masculine as you'd like?

I feel there's mileage in this. Please, do elaborate... ?

He's using a phone app to put cute bunny ears on people, in Japan? I'd say he's fitting in perfectly with the local culture so I don't see an issue.
