Agree with Hamilton there. Engineers sharing the data from both cars; fine. Drivers shouldn't be able to look at their team mates data. I'd they can't figure something out, then that's their failing. They shouldn't be able to look at their team mates data in hope of the answers.
Nope, not buying it. Will he also be asking for Mercedes to not learn how to avoid his gearbox blowing up if Bottas' unit fails? What about aero data from the test sessions where Bottas is in the car?Agree with Hamilton there. Engineers sharing the data from both cars; fine. It's an unreasonable, and totally unenforceable notion of a rule.

I think he's just looking for reasons behind Nico taking the title last season. Or at least trying to sow seeds of doubt, painting a picture that Nico was using his data to beat him. It's an unreasonable, and totally unenforceable notion of a rule.

I can't see that personally.
As an employee of the team that owns the data, he'll have to accept the team doing whatever it likes with the data.

Gaah. He's coming across like Nigel Mansell without the charm and charisma.Agree with Hamilton there. Engineers sharing the data from both cars; fine. If he wants an individual sport, then perhaps F1, particularly at Mercedes, isn't for him.
Sharing driver data has been part of F1 for decades.
I agree. It's a team sport.Sharing driver data has been part of F1 for decades.
I don't see why anyone should be getting their knickers in a twist over this.
It's a competitive sport. Teams do not share data with other teams (for obvious reasons). Your team mate is your most important competitor.
Teams find loop holes in rules, exploit them, and press for rules that hinder competing teams to be reinforced. This is absolutely normal.
Hamilton, by and large, out drove Rosberg. For each season they were team mates it was known that Rosberg would study Hamilton's data to ascertain where he was faster.
Hamilton, just like the team, wants to be faster than his competitors. But chiefly; his team mate.
If he's found a faster way through a corner, why should his team mate benefit from this?! It's Hamilton's win.

Because it's a team sport, not an individual one. The team outcome is the most important - securing 1/2. Team first, driver's wishes second. It's a competitive sport. Teams do not share data with other teams (for obvious reasons). Your team mate is your most important competitor.

Seems pretty much everyone has only read the headline and not the entire article.
Hamilton fully supports data sharing with regard to the car. This is the team element, get the car to be as fast and reliable as possible.
What he objects to is sharing the the driver inputs, i.e. Braking points, lines, etc. This is the individual element to beat his team mate. I see no problem with this at all.

It's both that has always been shared. The goal is still a team 1-2. not a reliable 1-3, 1-4, or 1-5. Team sport... needs team players.Hamilton fully supports data sharing with regard to the car. This is the team element, get the car to be as fast and reliable as possible.

Interestingly in a 2014 Telegraph article (on Lewis and Nico), "At the moment, they are both good spirited enough to share an almost rugby tackle embrace after the race, and they both speak about how they share data, studying one another’s performances to garner crucial information."
Maybe he feels that Nico's intel gave him too much information and he just feels threatened?

if you don't imagine this went both ways you must be out of your mind. Hamilton will have studied NR's data with fastidious attention. Every driver looks at all available information unless they are prevented from doing so, or they are daft.Vaud said:

And Lewis is great, but he is no MSC. I agree that he abused the data/info, at least from what I have read.
1. He didn't cheat is way to his F1 Titles
2. MSC always had No. 1 Status and never had a Driver that can compete on his level in same team
