Looks like a very cold music concert, is Nico going to launch a singing career?

Certainly doesn't look like an announcement, both Nico and Lewis doing a meet and greet.

I think Toto just made a Maldonado joke. No idea what's going on really though.

Wehrlein on a one year deal to see if he can cut it, leaving the door ajar for Mercedes to attract someone else for '18 if he doesn't cut the mustard.
yes

This is my view as well. They need to see if their 'investment' over the years has been worth it, and what better way than put him up against LH, especially in a year which could be seen as a level playing field with the reg changes.

So now that the dust has settled a bit, I think Mercedes are going to have some difficult questions to answer.

When did they really find out Nico was retiring?Trying to deny that they fixed the championship in his favour starts to become a fruitless exercise once the evidence starts to mount up. How many Mercedes engine failures did the client teams have?

Something stinks at Mercedes F1
Do you really think that because I believe if Mercedes knew beforehand Ocon wouldn't be signed to Force India.
The fact is people want it to have been fixed.

So no amount of convincing will stop that. Just need to let them to get on with it,

So you don't what discussions and thoughts on what went on? Are you an Ecclestone clone?

Speculation is more than half the fun in between races, and in between seasons is all we've got.

We should get on with voicing our opinions.

Indeed, nothing like a good conspiracy theory to get use through the winter. Personally I think Hamilton's engine was abducted by aliens in the middle of several races this season and filled with raspberry blancmange. It's the only sensible explanation.

Nonono. Bernie was worried about how boring a runaway LH season would be for the viewers *, so bribed Mercedes to sabotage his car.
Then, to keep the interest up in the off-season, he forced NR into premature retirement.

  • It was hard to keep a straight face typing that Bernie was worried about F1 being boring.

Lots suggesting Wehrlein will be a submissive number 2 but there really isn't any evidence to suggest that. If Merc are as dominant as this year any driver that is basically knocking on the door of a championship by default is suddenly going to have their mind focused on a potential WDC. An engine failure or something for Lewis early on and that number 2 status won't wash if there is a genuine shot at a championship.

Also, is Lewis really a guy who would thrive as a driver with no internal competition? He's a racer, not one looking for a team mate that will roll over.

According to Motorsport Total, Wolff said that all drivers with the exception of Kimi and Kvyat have been in touch with him..

I'm beginning to think that Wolff is a fantasist.
