Honda will pretty much get there. McLaren aren't going to Mercedes, Sauber are about to double Honda's testing hours and they are successfully getting many more brains on board.

I predict Honda's rate of progress this season will be seriously impressive. I'm not saying they will no longer be the worst engine manufacturer in the sport by the start of next season but they will be close.

2 installation laps covered and back in for an engine change following Honda's discovery of a water leak. I make that the 6th engine swap since Friday. A revised engine at that! This is absolutely farcical. Despite all the efforts that must surely be taking place, they are actively regressing. This has to be the biggest abject failure in F1 this century.

If nithing else, it's a good test of their commitment after bailing during the financial crisis, along with Toyota and their in-house money-burning departments.

If McLaren come good in another 2 years and win the WCC, it'll be the sweetest champagne ever tasted by an engine maker.

Of course for that to happen they'll need to retain a top driver.
That can't happen in 6 years with Honda, let alone 2. They simply cannot make up the difference. If others froze their engine development they may have a chance.

Another new spec engine has gone in. Doesn't seem to have left the garage yet though.

They're not only tarnishing their reputation now, they're undoing the great reputation they previously built up in the 80's. All that work is also being undone.

When someone mentioned "Honda" pre 2015, it brought back images of power, dominance and engineering, that work could be in vain if they continue like this. Literally, they may end up being known for many years as the opposite to what they were previously.

They need to turn it around SOON.

To be frank, Honda started undoing all that good 1980's stuff in the 'naughties' as apart from JB's single win in Hungary, they hardly had a stellar 8 years in the sport between 2000 and 2008.

I still cant understand why they continue to pump millions and millions in and this is their 3rd year without any progress. In fact after this amount of time you would expect to be in the top 4 but they are going backwards. Mclaren and Honda need a quick divorce for both their reputations.

I feel sorry for the mechanics, they must be sick and tired of bolting engines in and out.

Bet they're good and quick at it.

Bet the race McLaren would win is the fasted engine swap...

I don't understand how they consistently fail so badly every time they introduce something new.

How have the design team not been sacked?

It is a bit like a sketch out of the Wacky Races

At the moment, McLaren and Honda have become the equivalent of Dastardly and Muttley by being unable to finish the races with engine problems;

Yes, but whilst not stella it wasn't completely embarrassing. Their performance was a bit 'meh' and will largely be forgotten, this current situation is anything but forgettable.

Early 2000s it was OK, nothing more, nothing less.

That BAR was the second best car in the field in 2004 - and the 2005 one wasn't a million miles off in the second half of the season and nor was 06.

Then 2007 happened.......

Their most successful period since the original McLaren-Honda years was when they powered Jordan to three race wins in the late nineties.

The modifications they're trying now are the ones they should have been running on the dyno 8 months ago. The apparent lack of planning and direction at Honda is baffling.
