True, but it also created bigger gaps front to back (cars being lapped multiple times, etc) - do we want close racing or not?Regarding all these bigger cars. Are there any particularly tight pit lanes still in F1? Just thinking these cars are longer and wider (plus wider tyres) the pit crew when changing tyres will have to stand further apart and the outside crew will be further out. This could make mass pit stops under a safety flag tricky especially if they are quite tight already nose to tail in the pits, with possible crew/tyre clipping incidents as they exit their box and try to get around the crew in front.

But weren't the fins banned a few years ago so why have they returned, just because they clean the air over the new lower wing isn't the answer people are asking for because if fins are banned then they're banned, I can only only assume they've been unbanned
Fins weren't banned, but a ban was introduced on bodywork connecting to the rear wing. This was done to outlaw the F-duct.With no connection to the rear wing, there is now a fin tip, which generates a vortex, sitting right in front of the rear wing, upsetting flow over it.
Now that the wings are lower, the vortex coming off the fin tip doesn't interfere with the rear wing, so fins have reappeared.
